Amateurish...but what can you expect?!

This is the first directing job for Ken Russell (billed as 'Squire Kenneth Russell') and it's obvious it was a homemade sort of affair. While I noticed one reviewer that gave this one a 10, it's insane to give it any sort of score because it was a guy fooling around with a camera honing his craft. It is neither brilliant nor terrible--just a film where the man learned a bit that would eventually help him to the next level as a filmmaker.

This film had a minuscule budget, but despite this, Russell and his pals decided to make a film about knights--and this is a bit of a surprise. To get past the financial difficulties, they use bicycles and a cheap homemade costume. As for the story, there isn't much to it. Really, it's just a chance to practice directing and film techniques. As such, Russell fans might find it fascinating--others probably won't.

This is a very short black and white film. After seeing about 30 movies by Ken I decided to check all his works and luckily I found this one. Very good English humor can be found in this title. Ken's originality is easily recognized in the way the people are shown-always little bit far out dreamers and imaginative characters. What I really liked here is one invalid sex hunter. Once a woman approaches that middle aged beard male who becomes really active and catches the woman into invalid carriage. The main character is a looser on a bicycle dressed like a knight Some scenes are really unique and show the life in fantastic way For True Ken Russell's fans. www.myspace.com/neizvestnostlab
