I love it. First, for lovely work of Margerite Renault. Second - for atmosphere. Not less, for obvious unrealism. A nice comedy, with a large fose of sexual references, few funny, some bizarre ( the suggestion of incest is the top ), fair effort result of efforts of Annie Girardot and Philippe Noiret and few seductive scenes.

Difficult to define this film looking be, in same measure, provocative and charming, reminding forced in few momentan and representing just an eccentric game of adultescence in others.

But, sure, the breasts of Annie Girardot, the poor Englishman, Alain and Baba and their not so clear relation are real good motives to see La Mandarine.

Warning: Spoilers
I did not know this Edouard Molinaro film starring Annie Girardot and Philippe Noiret, already costarred in LA VIEILLE FILLE. Well, I will never see it again, but I won't say any harm about this little touching film. Girardot is as gorgeous as usual, so beautiful. Actually I fall each time I see her, even in the worst movies. The tale of a large family in charge of a fancy hotel in Paris, on Rivoli Street. And suddenly an English Young man arrives and he of course becomes a sort of intruder for all these folks. A charming film that deserves to be discovered again. This could have made a perfect TV movie for Saturday evening, the perfect scheme for home audiences.
