7 Sexiest Characters in The Hobbit Trilogy - Main Image
When you hear The Hobbit, you probably think of epic quests, magical creatures, and brave warriors in the Middle Earth. But if you look a little closer, you'll find a surprising charm and charisma among the characters—accents and all.
In this list, we will rank the characters from The Hobbit Trilogy—yes, the characters, not the humans who play them. This is our “hear me out” moment, and by the end of this list, you will agree (or not).
Here's our list of the top 6 sexiest characters from The Hobbit Trilogy.
7. Bilbo Baggins
This hobbit has quiet courage and an endearing earnestness. Bilbo's intelligence, wit, and resilience make him more than just the "burglar" of the group. His unexpected bravery in the face of danger and his compassion for others make him incredibly appealing.

George Lucas’ “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace” has a clear set-up/pay-off as the reason for its existence: young, innocent child Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) will grow up to become Darth Vader, a manifestation of evil. The movie’s entire reason for existence is ultimately to introduce us to this child and make us think about how far we are from the fall of the Republic, and how the Empire will arise in only a generation. These were major stakes and not a bad place to get fans excited for the first new “Star Wars” movie in 16 years. And yet when “The Phantom Menace” arrived in theaters in 1999 it was met with either a mix of fans trying to convince themselves it was good (“‘Star Wars’ has always been corny!”) or outright disappointment.

Peter Jackson once contemplated erasing his memory about The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Being an avid fan of J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels, the filmmaker crafted a cinematic world that captivated audiences globally and has since become one of the most influential franchises.

While his films have been a source of joy for fans worldwide, the filmmaker himself never had the opportunity to enjoy the trilogy like an ordinary viewer. And his desire for an unspoiled viewing experience for the film prompted Jackson to consider hypnosis to forget everything about Middle Earth.

Peter Jackson’s iconic The Lord of the Rings Trilogy is probably one of the greatest trilogy ever made. Starring an ensemble cast of several actors and a thousand extras, Jackson had an ambitious project on his hands.
During the auditioning of the film, MCU star Jake Gyllenhaal also auditioned for the role of a Hobbit in the film. Not putting effort into his acting and not doing a British accent, Peter Jackson had some harsh words for Gyllenhaal back in the day!

Andy Serkis is regarded as a legend for motion capture roles with prominent performances in some of the most renowned projects. The actor did motion capture for iconic characters like Gollum in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, the titular ape in King Kong, and the fan-favorite intelligent ape leader Caesar in the Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy.

The character of Gollum in Peter Jackson’s trilogy on J.R.R. Tolkien’s magical world played a significant role in popularizing Andy Serkis. Gollum was a thin, creepy-looking hobbit who obsessed over a shiny golden ring and crawled around the terrains of a mountain. It was revealed by Serkis in an interview that he walked on fours to achieve finesse in his role as Gollum.

Despite the widely despised series finale of "Game of Thrones" -- which, for the record, we at /Film didn't hate nearly as much as the rest of the world seemed to at the time -- the show was an immense cultural juggernaut for HBO, and in the risk-averse television landscape, it's only natural that other channels and streamers saw that show's success and wanted to replicate it for themselves. Prime Video spend ungodly amounts of money on the rights to a TV show set in "The Lord of the Rings" universe, Netflix dumped a bunch of money into the forgotten "Marco Polo," and even History got into the mix with "Vikings."
FX, meanwhile, decided to greenlight "Shogun," a tremendously expensive-looking adaptation of James Clavell's 1975 novel (which was previously adapted into an ultra-popular miniseries in the '80s). After enduring production delays due to the pandemic and finally premiering this February,...

Years after "The Sopranos" started what we consider the Peak TV era, there came a show that changed network TV forever: "Lost." It's a show that is as controversial as it is influential, one that helped bring serialization to mainstream TV, make the showrunner as recognizable among TV obsessives as the actors on screen, and delivered one of the most controversial endings in history (though it is a perfect send-off for the show).
Much like "Star Wars," it doesn't matter where you fall on the love/hate scale of "Lost," there is one thing all fans can agree on — the score remains consistently stellar throughout.
A big part of why "Lost" is still talked about so many years later is Michael Giacchino's score. There is a reason why Giacchino has played multiple concerts celebrating the music of the show since it ended in 2010, and why hundreds of people from...

The film stars Dermot Mulroney (Anyone But You), Jacqueline Bisset (Bullitt), and Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings franchise), who lead alongside Blaine Maye (Joe Bell), Sarah Cortez (Life by Ella), and Grainger Hines (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs).
Veteran actor William Shockley is directing the pic as his first feature, having penned the script with Shelley Reid and Hines. We understand the story is a tale of love and vengeance. Fallout was a successful live-action adaptation of a popular video game with the combined efforts of Bethesda Game Studios and Amazon Prime Video. It shattered records and even made short work of popular series like The Boys and Invincible but couldn’t top The Lord of the Rings.
The show was able to pull an impressive 65 million viewers in the first 16 days since the day Prime Video released all of the episodes. Compared to an equally well-budgeted show based on the popular work of author J.R.R Tolkien, it was considerably better and more well-received.
The Fallout Series Is Way Better Than the Lord of the Rings Spinoff The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power had a strong start but failed to capture the fans, unlike Fallout.
Despite having a strong start, the video game adaptation was the second most-watched title on the platform and fell behind The Rings of Power.

It is never an easy task to add something of value to an already-existing enriched universe. That is why so many people believe that some of the franchises are better left alone, rather than changed and expanded to become something else. With The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy being so successful, no one really needed another installment.
However, Prime Video has decided that they are ready to step into the dangerous waters, and ended up failing quite miserably. With almost half a billion spent, Rings of Power has made the fans of Tolkien’s fantasy world so unhappy, they completely destroyed the show’s reviews.

Nicolas Cage is all about his family. The actor puts his kids above everything else, even turning down massive roles in movies like The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix because they would have meant being away from home for too long. For Cage, that wasn’t worth it. He chose to stay close to his kids, preferring bedtime stories over Hollywood blockbusters.

At the turn of the millennium, humanity was brought face-to-face with the world of the apes, beginning with the Planet of the Apes. The Mark Wahlberg starrer created waves back in 2001, laying down the foundation for a franchise that would never turn back. Even more than two decades down the lane, fans still continue to love the story. And a big testament to this is the hype around the upcoming entry in the series, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. There will be one notable absence though – the absence of Andy Serkis.

Hayao Miyazaki’s stories have a lot of themes that one might also find in J.R.R. Tolkien’s work. There is a healthy respect for the environment and a general idea of hope in both their works. However, Miyazaki has come out saying why he hates the Lord of the Rings films, and his argument could actually cause fans to think about what he is saying.

Miyazaki’s issues with movies and fantasy like Lord of the Rings stem from the way in which the characters and themes are represented in such stories, usually portraying good and evil as extreme opposites that need to be solved with violence over everything else. A bearded geek with glasses and a funny cap created the main fantasy saga of the 21st century, which approached the level of cult status of The Lord of the Rings. George R.R. Martin himself has always been a huge fan of J. R.R. Tolkien.
However, he draws inspiration not only from the pages of dusty fantasy novels, but also from movies and TV series. Martin, a screenwriter himself, wrote several episodes for The Twilight Zone in the 1980s, and the number of his unrealized TV projects is simply too many to count.

Martin shared his favorite TV episodes on his blog, and the drama Six Feet Under, it’s final episode in particular, received special praise:
“[…] that last episode was far and away the best finale in the entire history of television, and I cannot imagine how anyone could possibly do better.

Back in 2001, Peter Jackson changed the whole movie adaptation game with the first chapter of his epic saga, based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s fantasy saga. Although there are some alterations from the original, The Lord of the Rings movies are still considered not only the best adaptation ever filmed, but even the most impeccable film series of all time.
Millions of fans around the world rewatch the trilogy every year or more often, without getting tired of exploring the world of Middle-earth at all. Luckily, some of them will get the chance to see it not only on the big screen, but also in a different version.
It has been reported Warner Bros. and Fathom Events are going to rerelease Jackson’s cultish saga in the extended and remastered editions on June 8-10. The films will screen across three days at Fathom Events participating chains, like Cinemark, AMC and Regal.

In recent years, we've seen more and more news of book-to-film adaptations getting TV remakes. Examples include His Dark Materials, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Interview with the Vampire, Reacher, as well as upcoming high-octane adaptations like Twilight and, of course, Harry Potter.
Some of us see this pop culture phenomenon as a miserable exploitation of once-popular franchises, while others are thrilled by the success of the aforementioned reboots. But what few can argue with is the fact that in 2024, technological capabilities have improved and the series can accommodate much more detail than the movie.
That's why the upcoming Harry Potter show could be a great opportunity for a long-awaited depiction of one of the best moments in the book that was barely touched on in the movie.
New Harry Potter Show Already in the Works
In April 2023, Warner Bros. officially announced that J.K. Rowling's fantasy novels would officially get a new live-action adaptation.

Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is undoubtedly one of the biggest if not the biggest fantasy series of all times, so it doesn’t really surprise us that it’s been an inspiraton for many authors from different fields. Whether it’s other authors who have used Tolkien’s series as a basis for their own fictional worlds, or authors who have adapted Tolkiene’s stories into other media, many have been inspired by the fantasy epic and we can understand why that is, as The Lord of the Rings is a truly amazing franchise.

Hey, Hollywood, anybody interested in a partially finished film about how O.J. Simpson might have been innocent? One that stars Charlotte Kirk — the English actress best known for her previous role in taking down moguls Kevin Tsujihara and Ron Meyer in a 2019 sex scandal — as Nicole Brown Simpson? If yes, this is your lucky day. According to British director Joshua Newton, about 30 minutes of The Juice (originally titled Nicole and O.J.) is in the can, mostly flashback scenes featuring Kirk and German-born actor Boris Kodjoe, currently on ABC’s Station 19, who plays the late NFL star turned acquitted murderer. Newton, who has been working on this “satirical thriller” since 2015, says the picture’s main plotline involves a real-life attorney named Douglas McCann who got sucked into various conspiracy theories during Simpson’s 1995 criminal trial.

The three-year period from 2001 to 2003 has given us three films that are today considered to be among the most memorable works of modern cinematography. Peter Jackson was the bold director who had enough courage to adapt J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, and the trilogy became a massive hit. This further led to a three-movie adaptation of The Hobbit, which also became a standalone prequel franchise and as things stand now, Jackson is going to go back to his beloved Middle-earth sooner than most expected, as new movies are in the works, based on the most recent reports.
A return to The Lord of the Rings franchise has been a much-discussed topic at Warner Bros. for some time now and while the franchise lives on on Amazon in the Rings of Power series, it seems that the franchise’s original home, Warner Bros., is intent on making new...

Following various cuts and divestments, troubled videogame firm Embracer Group is splitting into three separate companies.
In the latest shakeup at Embracer, the embattled Swedish holding company is to split into three separate entities. All three will be listed on the Swedish stock market, but none will carry the old Embracer name – and tellingly, none will be headed up by its CEO, Lars Wingefors.
The first of the three, called Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, will be a “creative powerhouse of Aaa game development,” according to Embracer’s announcement, and will be the entity that holds the valuable rights to Tomb Raider and The Lord Of The Rings.
The second company, Coffee Stain & Friends, will focus on indie and mid-budget games for PC and mobile; the third, Asmodee, will concentrate on publishing tabletop games.
It’s a drastic-sounding move, and a sign of just how difficult the past year has been for the once industry-dominating firm.

Back in 2008, a music video landed on YouTube — then still largely in its infancy and mostly dominated by amateur video footage — and caused a bit of a stir, amassing a cult following and 1 million views. More than 15 years on, the video has morphed — extremely slowly — into a full-length feature film.
Chris Dane Owens’ upbeat love song “Shine on Me” was already a catchy slice of rock with some heavy ’80s inspirations. But it was the epic accompanying video — which he made for $70,000, no small sum in today’s music video world — that proved to be the real hit, largely for squeezing into its four minutes practically every clichéd trope and inspiration from popular swords-and-sorcery fantasy entertainment. “The Princess Bride” features prominently, but then there are elements of “Xena,” “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Chronicles of Narnia,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Dungeons and Dragons” and many, many more.

The company that owns IP rights to the Lord of the Rings franchise is dividing its business.
Embracer Group has unveiled plans to split into three operations: games publisher Asmodee Group, indie gaming label Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends, which will house the Lord of the Rings and Tomb Raider rights.
Each company will be publicly listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm exchange, but Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends will remain within the current listed Embracer Group, which will be renamed. Embracer has also entered into a €900M ($959M) financing agreement with Asmodee, which will partly go on repaying debts.
Embracer’s largest shareholder, CEO Lars Wingefors, is planning on a “new long-term ownership structure” and will remain “a long-term, active, committed and supportive owner of all three entities.” Shareholders representing more than 50% of the capital and votes are supporting the plan.

Director Zack Snyder is once again making headlines, and we all know what that means: gorgeous visuals, provocative world-building, and another divisive movie. "Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver" is now streaming on Netflix and serves as the latest installment in the filmmaker's new, original franchise. (You can check out my review for the sequel here.) Initially conceived as a "Star Wars" pitch before Snyder took his talents elsewhere, his operatic space saga still bursts with colorful imagery and reams of nerdy details and lore that would've filled any "The Art of Star Wars" book from cover to cover -- and, in fact, that's pretty much exactly what a new art and making-of book has done.
Titled "Rebel Moon: Wolf: Ex Nihilo: Cosmology & Technology" from author Peter Aperlo, this official book is described as:

Given their close-knit relationship as global entertainment industries, gaming and the movies have long had a symbiotic connection. Movie tie-in games, for instance, have been a popular feature in gaming for decades, with numerous short-form releases over the years attempting to distil linear, cinematic storylines into interactive ones — albeit with varying success.
A Brief History of Gaming and the Movies
Of course, it’s not been uncommon over the years for studios to churn out poor quality movie-tie in titles that barely represent the characters and narratives we’ve fallen for on the big screen. However, there have been some outright successes and unexpected releases in alternative gaming genres.
In addition to being video game franchises, movies have even inspired online casino games and plenty of other activities throughout the iGaming sector. IP such as King Kong, Jurassic Park and even The Lord of The Rings have all been transformed...

Since earning a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination upon making his film debut in Miloš Forman's "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," Brad Dourif has been one of cinema's most distinctive character actors. He was utterly heartbreaking as the painfully shy Billy Bibbit in Forman's film, but thereafter he specialized in more unsettling types. Need someone to play a character who's a little creepy, squirrelly, or just flat-out weird? Dourif will likely be at or near the top of your list.
Onscreen, Dourif is probably best known to most moviegoers as the scheming Grima Wormtongue in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" movies, but he's made, shall we say, quite a killing as the voice of the stab-happy doll Chucky in the "Child's Play" films and, currently, the "Chucky" television series on SyFy and the USA Network.
Like so many great character actors, we've taken Dourif for granted over the years.

Admit it – there’s at least one horror movie out there with a “gotcha” moment that made your heart slam against the inside of your ribcage. A sudden out-of-nowhere reveal, often accompanied by a loud noise on the soundtrack. Scenes like this have been making audiences soil their seats since the era of classic monster movies, and it’s not hard to see why. The response is hardwired into our brains; an instinctive fight-or-flight reflex when our natural defense mechanisms are rudely interrupted. The term “jump scare” wasn’t commonly used to label this effect until the 21st century, and it only really became part of popular culture after the birth of YouTube – which practically weaponized the technique with viral “screamer” videos and clip compilations.
Legendary director Alfred Hitchcock once famously criticized this kind of scare tactic, claiming suspense far is more effective than a sudden shock… but he’s...

The rising star on transitioning from man to beast for Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes.
When Owen Teague was four years old, he saw Disney’s Beauty And The Beast and wanted to be in it. Not do a voice in it — actually be in it. “My mum was like, ‘Um, okay, sure, but that’s an animation. There are community theatres you can audition for?’” So he started doing community theatre, mostly musicals. Then, in 2005, Peter Jackson’s King Kong arrived. Seven-year-old Owen was bewitched. When his mum explained that King Kong was played by an actual guy in a performance- capture suit, Teague saw his future.
Almost 20 years later, he is that guy. In Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes, Teague plays the lead, Noa, a young chimpanzee born nearly 300 years after the events of the last film in the franchise. After a successful audition...

There are very few comic book writers who have attained the status of ‘legendary’. Comic book enthusiasts unanimously agree one of them is Alan Moore, who took DC comics to its heights during the 80s and 90s. He revived a number of forgotten supernatural characters, especially through his run with Swamp Thing, such as Spectre, the Demon, the Phantom Stranger, Deadman, and introduced John Constantine.

Moore’s contribution to the comic book world is immense, and being an industry expert for decades, he knows all the ins and outs. He understands how times have changed, and how several concepts that worked before won’t work today.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Middle-earth mythology includes several epic and powerful love stories. Aragorn and Arwen are probably the best known thanks to the Lord of the Rings films, plus Sam and Rosie get married at the end, and the extended editions also feature Éowyn and Faramir’s relationship, though that one was a bit rushed even in the books. But book fans also know the stories of Tuor and Idril, Elwing and Eärendil, and the rather more tragic story of Aegnor and Andreth, among others.
The love story that meant the most to Tolkien himself, though, was the story of Beren and Lúthien, which was directly inspired by the writer’s own life.
