I don't have much interest in musicals, yet I discovered this little obscure gem at the local video store after searching hard enough. Fans of Ricki Lake's TV talk show will be surprised that she appears in an extremely rare acting job as one of the Starlight campers, despite her unnoticeable recognition upon first viewing. Needless to say, this wasn't my kind of movie. The young ones were talented enough to sing, but I felt the musical numbers in general weren't anything to write home about. Third-graders may dig this due to its sharp, whimsical quality, but as a whole, the movie's just notably flat. Get it?
