WHO'S KILLER (1992, original title Mo tu) is a low budget Hong Kong slasher movie filmed in Taiwan. The story is about a teacher and her archaeology students who arrive on a remote island to study sites of local interest, but before long an axe murderer is rampaging through the class. Could it be the mysterious armed loner with an eye for the teacher? Or how about the mentally ill chap cared for by his elderly father? You'll have to wait to the climax to find out!
It's a rather average film in terms of the direction and setup, quite pedestrian in fact. The cast have a tendency to overact, which can be annoying, so expect a great deal of screaming from the young ladies; on the other hand, old-timers Wai Lam and Shing Fui-on are reliably good. But there's plenty of bloodshed as the body count rises and one random scene of perverted black magic rites that'll have you choking on your cornflakes. We've seen it all before, but I wasn't bored by this energetic cheapie.
