Disney's Tower of Terror has always felt like a thrilling outlier at any Disney park. Opened in Florida in 1994, the "Twilight Zone"-inspired thrill ride was always a little scarier than the rest of the Mouse House's family-friendly theme park attractions -- in a good way.
California's Tower of Terror may have had its last ride, but the attraction remains a landmark of Disney parks across the world, with additional versions in Tokyo and Paris. As with any Disney ride, a whole lot of thought went into the original planning of the attraction, and in the case of Tower of Terror, Imagineers were actually required to become classic TV binge-watchers. According to the official D23 website, everyone who helped design the Tower of Terror watched all 156 episodes of Rod Serling's seminal anthology series at least twice.

Who on earth would want to release a horror movie in November?! That’s like showing up to Thanksgiving dinner on a full stomach or going for a jog after a marathon. Surely, studios don’t purposefully plan to release their movie during the four weeks After the entire world is consumed with the dead, dying, maimed and dismembered, right? The calendar says spooky season is over (although you and I know differently) and as the grumpy neighbor in Halloween II says, the general audience has “been trick or treated to death” by October’s end.
On the contrary, November Horror has had some shockingly great runs over the years. And maybe there’s a method to the madness. If horror fans are lucky, October is packed tighter than a Black Friday sale at Target during a live in store Taylor Swift performance. Why not wait a couple of weeks...

Whether you know him as Captain James T. Kirk, Sgt. T.J. Hooker, Denny Crane, or General Mortars from National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1, William Shatner is one of entertainment history’s most iconic figures. The Canadian actor is seven decades into his career as a celebrated actor, science-fiction legend, author, musician, and more. His career began in 1951 when he landed a small role in the Canadian comedic drama The Butler’s Night Off. Compared to actors like Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, and Robert Redford, Shatner continued building his credits on the Broadway stage and performing minor roles in television and film.
Shatner eventually entered the world of science-fiction with a part in two episodes of The Twilight Zone: “Nick of Time,” and “Nightmare at 20,000 Feet.” In 1966, Shatner beamed up as the captain of the USS Enterprise, James T. Kirk. When his history-making role ended after three seasons and seventy-nine episodes,...

Winning the Grammy for Album of the Year is definitely an achievement. However, perhaps an even bigger achievement is to do well with the Grammys after you win. Indeed, many artists fail to replicate their Grammy success after Album of the Year victories, less due to a “curse” and more due to how hard it is to have multiple culturally impactful eras. To analyze this, let’s consider the follow-up records to every 21st century Album of the Year winner, divided into three categories: the successes, mixed results, and disappointments.

Perhaps the biggest surprise of the 2023 Grammys was hearing Bonnie Raitt’s name called as the winner of the prestigious Song of the Year award for “Just Like That.” While many were shocked at Raitt taking home the award over smash hits by artists like Adele, Harry Styles, and Lizzo, few would consider Raitt undeserving of the prize. This is especially true if you know how important Raitt has been to popular music for decades. But that wasn’t the only general field award she’s won. At the 32nd Grammy Awards, held in 1990, Raitt’s comeback record “Nick of Time” won her three trophies, including Album of the Year over legends like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Don Henley.
To understand Raitt’s 1990 wins, you need to understand her career leading up to “Nick of Time.” Raitt got her start in the early ’70s, earning praise as one of...

Plot: Told in real time, “Hijack” is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers.
Review: Idris Elba has proven himself to be a multi-hyphenate powerhouse who can provide voice-over for animated fare, play a superhero, perform action in genres ranging from science fiction to fantasy, and even get some laughs in comedies. Elba is even an experienced DJ. The gun can do no wrong, and while his filmography is jammed with diverse projects, the instant I started watching Hijack, I knew the creative team brought him on board because of his voice. Idris Elba has a presence that few actors are capable of, and that gravitas helps rescue Hijack from being a bust. Told in a real-time approach, Hijack is a tense thriller about a plane...

Honoring songwriters, the Grammy for Song of the Year has gone to everyone from The Beatles to Adele and Childish Gambino. This year, with Grammy darlings and newer artists in the mix, it looks like the race is tighter than ever, even if it will probably go to some familiar faces.
The race seems to be a tossup between the two biggest songs: Adele’s “Easy On Me” and Harry Styles’s “As It Was.” The former’s biggest benefit is that Adele is arguably the most industry-beloved artist making music right now, only losing three Grammys throughout her whole career. “Easy On Me” is also very baity, being a sentimental ballad tailor-made for voters.

Bonnie Raitt showcased her new album Just Like That… and talked about her classic LP Nick of Time on CBS Saturday Morning.
For the show’s “Saturday Sessions,” the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-inducted singer performed her rendition of the Bros. Landreth’s “Made Up Mind” and “Livin’ for the Ones” from the new LP, as well as her Nick of Time hit “Love Letter”; Raitt’s 1989 album was recently enshrined in the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry.
“Circumstantially, it changed my life,” Raitt said of Nick of Time on CBS Saturday Morning.

Recordings of 9/11 news reports, President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s speeches and Henry Aaron’s 715th home run will be preserved alongside Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and other albums and singles — and one podcast — as the Library of Congress released its 2022 list of additions to the National Recording Registry today. See the full list below.
The 25 selections of music and spoken-word pieces added today range span more than 80 years — from James P. Johnson’s 1927 “Harlem Strut” to Mark Maron’s 2010 Wtf podcast featuring Robin Williams — alongside some of the greatest songs and albums of the past 100 years.
Along with the Queen standard, other newly added singles include Nat King Cole’s 1961 holiday chestnut “The Christmas Song,” Ricky Martin’s 1999 smash “La Vida Loca,” Andy Williams’ Oscar-winning Henry Mancini-Johnny Murcer song “Moon River” from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, the Disneyland Boys Choir’s 1964 earworm “It’s a Small World,” Journey’s 1981 hit “Don’t...

The 1995 Grammys ceremony was one of the most interesting the award show has ever had. Most relevant to this year, it was the last year without nomination review committees. And not coincidentally, it was the year Tony Bennett won Album of the Year for his “MTV Unplugged.” Bennett’s win is an interesting one to ponder, especially as he is now nominated for Album of the Year again for “Love for Sale” with Lady Gaga.
Bennett has always been on the Grammys’ radar. His first wins were at the 5th Grammy Awards, where he took home Record of the Year and Best Male Solo Vocal Performance for “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.” Bennett was a consistent nominee for a couple years after that, but dropped off the awards’ radar for 25 years until in 1991 his album “Astoria: Portrait Of The Artist” became his first nomination since 1966.

When you’re a streaming service, there’s only one way to celebrate the New Year. And that’s by IP mining to bring back a franchise that had no business in coming back!
With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. If nothing else, telling a story about 2022 from a future perspective might play well.
Aside from Himyf, there aren’t any other Hulu original series to speak of. Instead, Hulu is opting to once again beef up its film library. Following the outcome of his latest court case, industry analysts are forecasting the worst for Johnny Depp‘s career prospects. Having now lost out on Fantastic Beasts as well as Pirates of the Caribbean, the 57 year-old is missing two major sources of income with more legal battles on the horizon against ex-wife Amber Heard.
It may have been his role as Captain Jack Sparrow that rocketed him to the top of the Hollywood A-list and made him the highest-paid actor in the business, but Depp was hardly short of a few pennies before then. As one of the most reliable and acclaimed talents of his generation, he’d been picking up sizeable checks for years, including a $5 million payday for box office dud Nick of Time as far back as 1995.

Per Billboard, Atkinson died of a heart attack in Los Angeles where he lived. Bassist, producer and Was (Not Was) co-founder Don Was said of Atkinson: “He wanted to make a comic book where Sweet Pea was the main character, because he was a larger than life guy — which is how I still think of him. The James Hunter Six’s “Who’s Fooling Who” feels beamed in from a jukebox circa 1967, when the world was overflowing with simple, devastatingly effective, sub-three-minute soul singles mapping the treacherous terrain of romance: The Sapphires’ “Who Do You Love” and Evie Sands’ “I Can’t Let Go,” Barbara Lewis’ “Hello Stranger” and Brenton Wood’s “Trouble.”

Yesterday saw a deluge of precursor results hit the Oscar race, including one of the biggest Guilds chiming in. Cinematographer Roger Deakins won the top prize Saturday night at the 34th annual Asc Awards (at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland) for his bravura camera work on “1917,” the continuous-shot, World War I extravaganza, directed by Sam Mendes.
Deakins beat Phedon Papamichael (“Ford v Ferrari”), Rodrigo Prieto (“The Irishman”), Robert Richardson (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), and Lawrence Sher (“Joker”). The latter three are Oscar-nominated with Deakins. The fifth nominee, Jarin Blaschke (“The Lighthouse”), earned the Asc Spotlight Award for his gritty, Gothic-looking black-and-white cinematography.
Additionally, Fejmi Daut and Samir Ljuma took the Asc Documentary category for “Honeyland.”
Given the Best Picture momentum and universal acclaim for the technical feat, Deakins moves a step closer to his second Oscar. He finally landed his first with “Blade Runner 2049″ after 14 Academy Award nominations. Deakins leads the Asc with five wins.

Getting them to stay for 12 hours in a downpour that turned the packed lawn (where the vast majority of people sat) into a sea of mud is much harder. It required a pretty spectacular show, one that left people so stunned they stayed put hour after hour even though most of them couldn’t...

Hulu has released its list of all the new content coming May 1 as well as everything that will leave the streaming service at the end of the month.
Highlights include Hulu Originals like “Into The Dark: All That We Destroy,” the show’s eighth episode coming May 3. Hulu describes the show as “A geneticist who fears that her son may be becoming a serial killer creates a group of clones in an attempt to cure him of his psychopathic tendencies by allowing him to relive the murder of his first victim.”
George Clooney’s “Catch-22,” which is on the Joseph Heller novel of the same name arrives mid-month. Per Hulu: “‘Catch-22'” is the story of the incomparable, artful dodger, Yossarian, a Us Air Force bombardier in World War II who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him.” The show stars Kyle Chandler,...

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers from “The Twilight Zone” Season 1, Episode 3, “Replay.”]
Over and over again, black motorists in America have been victims of the racial profiling and now this act has been brought to terrifying life on “The Twilight Zone.” In the latest episode “Replay,” director Gerard McMurray takes on that real-life recurring nightmare and dramatizes it through a camcorder that literally rewinds time.
Interpreting the black experience through the lens of horror brings to mind Peele’s directorial debut “Get Out,” which McMurray acknowledge is a fair comparison.
“It’s in the same universe for sure in a lot of ways, but it’s just across the universe,” he told IndieWire. “Ours pushes the boundaries in that it’s more pointed. We replay this over and over so you can understand this stuff happens in the real world, which we see replayed and replayed over and over again. I felt we made it more personal,...

We’ve got a new extended trailer for you to watch for Jordan Peele’s revival of The Twilight Zone. While I liked what I saw in the promo spots for "Nightmare at 30,000 Feet" and "The Comedian," this new trailer offers us a look at all the other episodes that the first season of the new series will entail. Personally, I like what I’m seeing!
The Twilight Zone is one of the greatest shows ever created, and while this revival won’t be as good as the original, it still looks like a solid series that will entertain and tell some interesting stories. I’m curious to see how this turns out.
You’ll also see many of the cast members in the series that includes Greg Kinnear, Kumail Nanjiani, Seth Rogen, John Cho, Ike Barinholtz, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Luke Kirby, Sanaa Lathan, Adam Scott, Rhea Seehorn, Alison Tolman,...

Chris O’Dowd is the latest actor to join the cast of the upcoming The Twilight Zone revival series. He will star alongside Amy Landecker in an episode called, “The Blue Scorpion”. I enjoy O’Dowd and his work! It’ll be fun to see what his episode will entail and what kind of character he’ll play.
Unfortunately, there are no details on the episode but O’Dowd joins the previously cast Greg Kinnear, Kumail Nanjiani, Seth Rogen, John Cho, Ike Barinholtz, Taissa Farmiga, Ginnifer Goodwin, Luke Kirby, Sanaa Lathan, Adam Scott, Rhea Seehorn, Alison Tolman, Jacob Tremblay, Jessica Williams, DeWanda Wise, Zazie Beetz, Betty Gabriel, and Steven Yeun.
Jordan Peele is producing the series and he will also be stepping into Rod Serling’s shoes as the host. Some of the other episodes include “The Traveler”, “The Wunderkind”, “Point of Origin”, “Nightmare At 30,000 Feet”, “Nick of Time”, and “Rewind.

CBS All Access has just dropped the first full trailer for Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated revival of The Twilight Zone. This gives us our first real look at the stories that will be told in the first season. It actually looks like it’s going to be pretty good!
As you’ll see, they’ve made some pretty significant changes to some of the original episodes that are being remade. There are also a few little Easter eggs to keep a look our for as you watch the trailer because there are some things that you’ll recognize.
The new series is described as an anthology that will tell self-contained stories in every episode. Also, like its predecessors, it will lean on science fiction, fantasy, and horror to tell tales laced with social commentary.

Once Upon a Time star Ginnifer Goodwin is the latest actor to join Jordan Peele’s revival of The Twilight Zone. She will appear in an episode titled “Point of Origin” which will also star James Frain and Zabryna Guevara.
There are no character or story details revealed, but there was one original Twilight Zone episode where Rod Serling mentioned the phrase “point of origin” in his opening narration. It was for an episode called “The Call”, and this is what he said:
“Norman Blane, whose greatest fear is that, if he were to vanish from the Earth tomorrow, no one will notice, or mourn, or question, and whose greatest sadness is the realization that he is probably right. Sofa, coffee table, chair, and pet; solitary decorations in a life noted chiefly for its isolation. Point of origin and point of destination for Norman Blane, whose days and nights are routinely swallowed into unhappy silence.

One of the episodes that CBS All Access and producer Jordan Peele are producing for The Twilight Zone series is called “The Wunderkind,” and it will star John Cho (Star Trek), Allison Tolman (Fargo) and Jacob Tremblay (Room, Wonder).

The one thing that I was hoping Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone revival wouldn’t do is remake old classic episodes. I wanted to see new and original stories! Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.
We already saw a teaser trailer for the series that featured a set reminiscent of the classic William Shatner episode “Nick of Time”. Now is been announced that the other classic Shatner episode, “Nightmare At 30,000 Feet” is being remade and Adam Scott as been cast in it.
“Nightmare A 30,000 Feet” tells the story of a man, fresh out of a mental hospital, in an airplane who sees a gremlin on the wing tearing into the engine.
So, it looks like this new Twilight Zone series is just going to remake the old classic episodes, so now my excitement for the series has died. There’s no point in remaking the classics.

The upcoming reboot of The Twilight Zone has started production and we have a new teaser trailer to share with you today to get fans excited for what is to come. Jordan Peele is producing the series for CBS All Access and he will also be stepping in the shoes of creator Rod Serling as the host of the show. When previously talking about the series, Peele explained:
“Rod Serling was an uncompromising visionary who not only shed light on social issues of his time, but prophesied issues of ours. I’m honored to carry on his legacy to a new generation of audiences as the gatekeeper of ‘The Twilight Zone.'”
I have high hopes for this series. The Twilight Zone is one of the great series ever made and this teaser wonderfully trailer pays tribute to its legacy.
Ive been hoping that the new series wouldn’t rehash old episodes.

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that several of its original series will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in August, including the first season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” John Krasinski, who is red-hot following the success of his winter hit “A Quiet Place,” takes on the role of the CIA spy that has been played on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.
Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first appearances on Amazon Prime Video including the action comedy “Gringo,” which stars David Oyelowo as a businessman who unwittingly becomes involved with a Mexican drug cartel.
Unlike Netflix, Amazon does not disclose the shows and movies leaving the service in any given month. We’ve done some digging and unearthed a few titles that will be exiting Amazon Prime Video in the first week of August. News...

Important life lesson: When you're talking to William Shatner, be very careful what you say, because it could very well come back to bite you in the butt. Case in point: talking to the actor (oh-so-famous for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek) about his newest project, the animated film The Steam Engines of Oz, in which he plays the Wizard of Oz. Things certainly begin somewhat innocently, with the comment to him that the story is highly enjoyable and the characters engaging and quite charming, while certain elements of the animation are....eh. "How do you spell 'eh'?" he asks good-naturedly, to which I suggest the way it reads here, e-h. All fine and good, until later in the conversation when I foolishly ask him, "What do you feel the strength of this film is?" "I thought it was the animation," Bill, who you'd never suspect is 87 years old,...

Of course you never see the real person when you fall for someone; you see a self-flattering illusion, and this is triply true with celebrity crushes
“How did I not see it?” Thus cries everyone when the scales of insanity fall from their eyes and they realise that the gorgeous piece of perfection they have been dating, and occasionally making excuses for because other people just didn’t understand their specialness, is actually the literal dregs.
