They must have made a lot of improvements!
Anonymous_Maxine10 July 2008
I've noticed that a lot of the negative reviews of the ride seem to be justified but mostly were written years ago. I rode the ride for the first time around early 2007 and I LOVED it. I was at Universal Studios with my girlfriend at the time, and she's terrified of roller coasters and water rides but somehow I was able to convince her to go on this one. The first half of the ride is a nice relaxing ride through what is made to look like a dinosaur infested watery meadow, and if you can ignore things like the parking garage visible over the brontosaurus, it's just a fun, relaxing ride, I loved it. I love to look around at this stuff and think of the creativity and work that went into making it, and then soon you find yourself being pulled uphill and into the dark, and the ride takes a decidedly sinister turn. Some have complained about the dinosaurs and some sound effects being obviously fake, but I had a great time. Of course you can tell the dinosaurs aren't real, but they were more than convincing enough to me. The drop at the end is the inevitable climax of any water ride, and with the t-rex roaring at you on the way down it was the perfect burst of excitement at the end of a great ride. Highly recommended!

That was the greatest water ride ever
Darth_Voorhees4 August 2000
It starts when you enter Jurassic Park.It is planned to be a normal boat tour around Jurassic Park`s plant-eating dinosaurs. But then something goes wrong a dinosaur pushes the boat into a building of dangerous meat-eating dinosaurs. Then you see something moving in some bushes. Then you see two dinosaurs fighting over a jurassic park uniform. You know something has gone wrong. Then you go into the building you see raptors and spitters. And everything that could go wrong does and for the final stop you see a giant T-rex ready to destroy the boat. You go under him and get wet.I went on the ride two times.I did`nt go on the ride in hollywood but I went on the one at Islands of adventure. It was better than jaws and king kong .Go on it when you go to universal studios.

Really fun water ride, great dinosaur effects.

You start the ride in an outdoor line where T.V.'s play fake advertisements and entertaining safety videos for the ride, featuring Richard Attenbrough as John Hammond. You get on to the ride, which is a yellow raft boat and off you go. You go through a flower garden until you reach the big Jurassic Park doors which open for you. You then see ultrasaurus eating and playing in the water. We see psitocasaurus drinking water, stegasaurs and the little compys fighting over popcorn. We keep going and see a car hanging off a wall. It falls, the tire's spinning just feet away from you. The scheduled trip was supposed to go through the garden area, but we accidentally go through the danger zone. My favorite animatronics come in next when we see a piece of the ceiling break off and a raptor belly flop down it. We see a T-Rex's head coming down and finally a T-Rex behind a water fall that roars and lunges at us right as we fall. It's the best ride at Universal Studios Hollywood and it's a great experience.

Waterfall at the end is the only exciting part
oceanictray6919 April 2007
During the summer, the cue line for this attraction is really long, since it is a water ride. It's very well-themed, but a lot of the ride's artifacts seem to be out of order. Overall, the ride is not worth it if you have to wait for almost 2 hrs. in line. The drop at the end is exciting, but the whole ride itself could have been better. Creators for Indiana Jones could have prob. helped these Hollywood designers. Also, many times the ride breaks down and causes even longer waiting periods for others. It's also very unpleasing when they only have one raft departing dock open and not the two, like they are supposed to. During Halloween Horror Nights, you ride in the dark, and it's exciting if it's your first time, but if it's not, then don't bother waiting in a four-hour line.

Great Ride!

I will keep it short and sweet: Great Ride, Great fun! The Dinosaurs are great and the ending with the T-Rex is kick-a$$. If you are in Florida or California make sure to go to either Universal Studios are Islands of Adventure. When you first step on the ride and the boat goes through the Jurassic Park gates with the music, you instantly turn into a kid who has just found candy. There are a large variety of dinosaurs that everyone in your family will love from the lovable Stegosaurs to the mighty T-Rex. So go to Universal Studios and enjoy this great ride based on one of the biggest films of all-time, Jurassic Park, and you will be glad you did. Enjoy!

Definitely one of the better attractions
neil_barclay8 July 2004
I visited this attraction almost four years to the day, so please forgive me if this seems outdated.

Visiting Universal Studios in 1998 and being teased by the promotion for their new theme park, I was eager to visit and see if it really did lived up to the hype. Along with the likes of The Hulk and Popeye, this was on my essentials list to ride.

The theme is centered around a harmless tour of Jurassic Park's dinosaurs, which turns hazardous after your boat takes a wrong turn. You end up venturing an area packed with the most sinister of killers, escaped and wreaking havoc.

After a few jumpy frights you reach the climax - a huge T-Rex. As it towers over you - prepared to attack - your boat unexpectedly plunges down a steep, long slide (be prepared, you're caught on camera!).

For me, this was an original and thrilling experience with lack of motive. For example, why would there be a tour if killer dinosaurs were on the venue, free? Another was the plunge at the end, which had no plausible explanation I could think of other than a cheap ploy to escape the T-rex.

I highly recommend this to anyone visiting the Islands Of Adventure. Switch your brain off and enjoy!

8/10.

Very realist! A frightening emotional and physical roller-coaster!

I went on the ride when it first opened at Universal Studios, Hollywood. The long line was worth the wait, watching the survivors exiting alive! Get a Lemonade slurpy first to beat the heat while waiting, they are the best in the world! It starts out a very serene boat ride with friendly long necked brontasauras popping in and out of the water to munch on plants. As you continue it gets darker w/ emeinent doom nearing. Spitting lizards and other carnivores start to show themselves, popping out of no where. Suddenly you find you have floated into a concrete cage that "who knows what" has obviously escaped from. A Jurassic tour jeep falls over the side of the wall, stopping half way, dangling over head. You head into the darkened cave where suddenly the "escapee" appears over head barely missing you. Suddenly you are rushed into the daylight making your escape plummeting over a waterfall! It is a rush from the beginning to end! You will never get so wet in your life!

Terrible
IMDBReader17 February 2004
for the money they spent, this ride STUNK! They should have hired Disney to do it.

The truck didn't plunge like it';s supposed to, you could see the actuators on some of the little dinos, at the last turn before going inside, the dino sounds are coming from 2 JBL bookshelf speakers just sitting on the rocks, not even hidden, and you can see that the T Rex is only a partial. The only good part was the drop at the end, but not really worth it. Also, Universal Studious is not worth the same admission as Disneyland, so go to the latter, instead.
