Mumbai, April 12 (Ians) Veteran Bollywood actress-turned-politician ‘Dreamgirl’ Hema Malini left many Mumbaikars rubbing their eyes with disbelief when she hopped onto a Mumbai Metro train for a ride and later commuted in an auto-rickshaw.
The 74-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha MP from Mathura shared pictures and videos of her memorable journey on the public transport – the lifeline of over eight million Mumbaikars – on social media.
En route, sporting a pink shirt and creamy-white trousers with a handbag slung on her shoulder, Malini warmly smiled and interacted casually with several commuters, and even posed for selfies with her fans on the Mumbai Metro ride, and then shot her experiences during an autorickshaw commute to her home.
“I must share with all of you my unique, wonderful experience. Drove 2 hours to reach Dahisar by car, so tiring! In the evening decided I would try the Metro and Omg! What a joy it was!

"I am glad to be trying my hand at a different genre...in a show which already has an established audience. It ups the responsibility, but I take that in my stride," she added.

Can we please stop obsessing over Baahubali and move on? Right off, Rudhramadevi would be compared with Rajamouli’s landmark achievement. Baahubali would never be made again. Thank God for that!
Rudhramadevi is another creature altogether. Vast, panoramic, spectacular and deeply resonating with relevances that go way beyond the 13th century the film is a marvel of construction and execution.
The plot is a spiraling architecture of infinite intrigue and intricacy weaving in its flamboyant fabric aeons of courtly intrigue. The narrative survives an onslaught of grotesque caricatures of evil entities from the royal durbar all plotting and conspiring to bring down the 13th century warrior-queen from the Kakatia dynasty.
There are some clumsy special effects and of course a hand-to-hand combat between the protagonist and a wild animal: No period film can be complete until the hero grapples with a four-legged creature. Also in this case the special effects...

Paul Thomas Anderson‘s new documentary, Junun, premiered last night at the New York Film Festival and has already debuted on Mubi globally, but for those looking for a preview, today we have the first trailer. The film follows his trek with Jonny Greenwood to Rajasthan in northwest India, where he and a group of musicians recorded an album (out on November 13th via Nonesuch) and were hosted by the Maharaja of Jodhpur.
While the director’s post-screening at Alice Tully Hall was quite brief, he did provide a few new details related to the project. Revealing the film was shot on the same Jodhpur location as in The Dark Knight Rises, he also said he attempted to shoot it with “newfangled, sexy camera gear” that got caught up in customs “and never made it out.” So, as one can see in the film, he just used what he had in his bag,...

While we dive deep into Hollywood’s poster offerings each month to look at the best and worst studio-produced one-sheets, it’s time to put our money where our mouth is. At The Film Stage, we believe that if some care is taken, a poster can be a distinct creation unto itself that’s worthy of observation and admiration. Today is the return of our feature, Alternate Art, in which the talented designer Midnight Marauder creates an original, alternate poster for one of the month’s releases.
This week we have one for Paul Thomas Anderson‘s new documentary, Junun, which premieres today at the New York Film Festival before hitting Mubi globally tonight at midnight. Since its beginning in 1963, the New York Film Festival has grown into one of the more anticipated stops for film fans on the festival circuit, with the 2014 incarnation of the festival alone seeing Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice and David Fincher’s Gone Girl make their world premiere at the event. As the festival’s importance has grown, the lineup presented has also piqued the interest of film fans. With the 2015 event set to run from September 25th to October 11th, a second wave of the lineup has now been announced to go with the previous Main Slate announcement.
The festival had previously announced that Robert Zemeckis’ The Walk would be the opening night film, making its World Premiere at the event, and the Don Cheadle film Miles Ahead would be the closing night feature, also making its World Premiere. The following films, with their official synopses, will also be playing at the event.
