Bob Laurent is a tycoon's heir ,but his papa has stopped his allowance and he's 7 million in debt .Sick and tired of his idle life ,he decides to die;he hires a killer to do the job,but he changes his mind .However the mercenary wants to fulfill the terms of his contract .Bob shivers every time someone calls on him ;fortunately the hoodlum is arrested ,but, actually ,he's fallen out of the frying pan into the fire :" a contract is a contract :Jack the Ripper will replace me".

Black humor is a genre which is difficult to handle ;there are some good moments (the undertaker's intervention, the unexpected final twist)) ,but they are few and far between ;the treatment is heavy-handed ,the dialog not really sidesplitting .Reserved for Fernandel 's numerous fans, but be warned: it's not one of his best roles.

This film and its absolute lack of historiography belong solely to the dustbin of history.
