Mediocre... even for soft core porn standards.
insomniac_rod6 August 2006
You've seen it all before... the typical erotic situations that are consequences of a supernatural event. This time, Kira Reed's character has a "vision" or "fantasy" about having sex with a taxi driver in an alley... she stops for an unknown reason. In therapy, she admits that she felt passion, and the need to "f..." the taxi driver. She regrets about not having sex with him and that's when the movie picks more supernatural experiences that lead to sex scenes.

Now, this movie is very regular. I mean, it just doesn't have memorable sex scenes or a decent plot. The movie has no feeling or even a decent direction.

This is a mediocre erotic thriller even though that Mrs. Larraniaga and Kira Reed look EXTREMELY hot.

This one had potential...

Never Surrender

Lauren (Kira Reed) is tracking a spirit, a spirit that is making your average, ordinary folk turn into sexual monsters. The spirit has been nicknamed Eros, and Lauren experienced it after breaking up with a boyfriend and almost loving up a stranger in a parking lot. She then interviews people who also share her experiences, but find the chain of lust suddenly broken until her hot-to-trot roomie finds the spirit again.

This is not any sort of mystery or investigation as much as it is a lot of sexy scenes and badly decorated sets. All the women here are beautiful, the men are hunky, the soundtrack is appropriately laden with saxophones, but everything about this film has an air of familiarity to it. The script is a disaster- the storyline tries to engage the viewer on a level other than wanting to see women in thongs. The acting is above par for this kind of project, but the special effects are of the Video Toaster variety, and no conclusion is ever reached. This will anger anyone who must sit through ninety minutes of this, hoping something new will be tried. The sex is all softcore, there are a couple of shots where the actors' "socks" are evident. "Surrender" is run-of-the-mill straight-to-video softcore sex. If you are hoping for some sort of "The X Files"-spin on a tried and tired genre, look elsewhere.

Visually stunning.

Can't say much for the plot, but that's not really the point. The one noteworthy feature? I don't think there's a bit of silicone in the entire production. That in itself is a major achievement in this day and age. Not coincidentally, these are some of the most visually-appealing women assembled in a softcore of late. Since visually-appealing women *is* the point, check it out.

Routine erotic thriller
react10515 September 1999
Sometimes the whole turns out to be less than the sum of the parts. This is one of those times. Sahara Riley is a talented writer, Kelley Cauthen is one of the most dependable directors in the business, and the cast is first-rate from top to bottom.

So why is "Surrender" such a two-star disappointment? Part of the problem goes back to the concept: Kira Reed conducts interviews of people who recount their erotic escapades, which are shown as flashbacks. The result is episodic, with little in the way of plot or character development to tie the episodes together.

As eye candy, "Surrender" is an attractive confection. Cauthen knows how to use a camera, and the actors are gorgeous and enthusiastic. There are surely worse ways to spend an hour and a half, or thereabouts. It just seems a shame that, given these resources, more couldn't have been done.

Surrender is a sexy supernatural romp

I wish there was more Kira Reed and Kim Dawson in this movie...but I enjoyed the entire supportive and sexy cast. Anything Kelley Cauthen directs seems to be better than most late night cable fare. I can't wait to his next film "Forbidden Highway" I see listed as an upcoming release.

innovative story, well produced even tho a small film

not a real plot but sort of a collection of people telling their stories, similar to La Ronde. Obviously made on a tight budget but well shot, nicely directed. Acting is uneven, but the people are beautiful, especially when they take their clothes off.
