Superior crime drama
filmfancy15 October 2004
This is one of the best crime drama programs I've ever seen. It's on a level with the British "Prime Suspect." Both lead actresses of these programs are complex and highly watchable.

The character of Anne Fortier, played by Sophie Lorrain, is an amazing woman, displaying strength and vulnerability along with compassion and intelligence. Her portrayal of the psychologist as shrewd and intelligent, as well as emotionally fragile, doesn't contain a false note.

I've been watching the program on English CBC but don't think that they ran the whole series. In any case, I was very grateful to discover this french gem. Along with the starring actress, there were many more fascinating and wonderful actors, playing interesting and complex roles.

The two male cops, the older and younger partners, were quite funny and endearing. Fortier's boss was also an intriguing character. Every character was densely drawn and made the viewer want to know more.

I can only hope that the CBC brings back the concluding chapters as I would like to know what happens to Anne, and just what happened to her when she worked in a penitentiary.

One of the best T.V Series ever made...
star_trek_girl5 April 2002
It is the best work of the author Fabienne Larouche. Each episode are watched by 2,500,000 person every time! Sophie Lorain is playing her character so well. The secret of Fortier is so mysterious that everybody is watching Fotier for trying to know what is happened to her few years ago... Maybe we will know it before the end of the season! If you speak French, watch it, you will past many hours of suspence. I'm waiting for the Dvd. I hope that Fabienne will put Fotier on. Everything is good!!! Viva Fortier!

Fortier and Profiler???
loupier6923 September 2008
There is no relation at all between Fortier and Profiler but the fact that both are police series about violent crimes. Profiler looks crispy, Fortier looks classic. Profiler plots are quite simple. Fortier's plot are far more complicated... Fortier looks more like Prime Suspect, if we have to spot similarities... The main character is weak and weirdo, but have "clairvoyance". People like to compare, to judge, to evaluate. How about just enjoying? Funny thing too, people writing Fortier looks American but, on the other hand, arguing they prefer American series (!!!). Maybe it's the language, or the spirit, but I think this series is more English than American. By the way, the actors are really good and funny. The acting is not superficial at all...

Magnifique!!!
selket-34 March 2002
This was a really well done francophone movie! Not at all like the usual Canadian films that you see... It really had you on the end of your seat until. As we follow Fortier and her collegues through a multiple murder investigation we, along with her are trying to determine who the guilty one is. When the answer is finally revealed it is nothing any of us were expecting. I must admit that I was a little disappointed in the ending... on one hand, I felt that it could have been better handled but on the other it added a little more mystery to show. Well done, if you speak french and are looking for a good mystery I highly recommend this movie.

remake of "Profiler"

Man, I thought this was such an original series until I watched the TV show, "Profiler"....what a let down! "Fortier" is so similar to "Profiler" that I feel betrayed. You'd have to watch "Profile" to see what I mean. All I can say is that I feel so let down by the sameness...."Fortier" is not original. The opening music sounds the same, the opening of the show looks similar....the least they could have done was give credit where credit is due! The interactions of the characters is similar too. Don't get me wrong: I loved Fortier....but was so surprised to see that it wasn't a great new idea from Quebec at all. Too bad; with all the talent in Quebec, I would think that they could have come up with something more Quebec and less American.
