A really strange movie....

I recently bought this on Amazon and thought it was interesting. I think a lot of people have been rough on it because its a black and white film (like Pi). The ending is really crazy -- merging all the characters into one. Its a low budget feature and some of the production deficiencies do show. Overall, though the film has a great cast and unique story. The graphic violence and nudity is a little overdone, though. I guess that's to be expected from a newcomer film director like Michael Thomas Dunn. This was his first feature film and its a quirky project. Allan Medina and Martin Seijo did great jobs on acting. I though Jamie Belanger was a little dull as the lead actress.

I just didn't get it.....

I have no idea what this movie was supposed to be about. It sounded like some crime movie, but was a lot more like the movie Fight Club. And why black and white? They never really explain the lack of color? The garage part with Ponch attacking the girl was too much. Just too violent. I know they were trying to be different when they made this film -- but maybe they we're trying too hard. I just thought the movie was very confusing. I like Annalisa Kyler -- she is a great actress, I never seen her before but she was really brought some drama to the film. The bridge chase scene was done well, but why would the guy use brass knuckles just to get his wallet? Again, too much violence.

Not what I expected....

Let's face it. From the page on Amazon, this film sounded like Scarface or Boys in the Hood. The film seems a lot more like fight club. I mean, I'm not crazy over the black and white -- I guess the filmmakers wanted the movie dark and grainy.

Overall, I did like the ending. The two drug dealers were awesome actors (Seijo and Medina). The guy who plays Jason seemed a little flat in the beginning of the film -- but I think it was intentional for the crazy ending. The film definitely has a great twist for the ending.

The actress who plays Rachel (Annalisa Kyler) is totally hot, too. If you want a bizarre indie film, then this is probably a good choice. If you want a more conventional Hollywood-like film -- you will be very unhappy. The special features and interviews on the DVD weren't really informative. The blooper reel was funny in spots, though.
