Coquille: more than a seashell, a pearl

Coquille is the french word for seashell. It shows what you lose when you keep all your feelings inside.

This film is so touching I cried all my tears when I saw it the first time and the second time and the third... The story is so true. You know, a high school love story that did not ignite although both are in deep love for each other. And now that they meet again, decades after, their love is still as strong but they have already made their lives.

I found the flashback scenes (highschool) so touching because somehow I lived the same scenes.. as many of us did.

Since I have seen it five times in a row in Japan, I am looking for it on DVD, VCD or VHS somewhere..

This film is a must see for all of you that have a romantic heart! (but it is not the romance a la hollywood with strings of violins and big orchestra. It is more true and more touching. I wish I am able to see movies like this one more often).

soppy romance where nothing happens...

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was lame. I usually love Japanese movies, the way the characters take over and give even a bad movie wings. Coquille starts at a middle-school reunion where some middle-aged Japanese people say nothing of interest. Through flashbacks we learn that one of the women had a crush on one of the men. Back to present day, and the not-then lovers start an affair. (Why? Because they can, I guess, the script leaves gaps you could drive a garbage truck through...)

This movie has no positives whatsoever: lousy writing, forgettable characters, washed-out made-for-TV cinematography. You know you're watching a dud when the characters in the flashbacks out-act the stars. Do yourself a favor and avoid this one like the plague...
