Stays disappointing Warning: Spoilers
The title "Visions in Meditation #3: Plato's Cave" already says that this film is the third installment (the penultimate) to American filmmaker Stan Brakhage's "Visions in Meditation" quadrology. I was disappointed by part 1 and 2 and same goes for this third film. I did not find it soothing, as the title implies, relevant or interesting at all. It looked like a film to me that really everybody with little interest in filmmaking can make and it says a lot about Brakhage that he kept this mediocrity going for several films. I really cannot think of anything good here, maybe only that it only runs for 16 minutes just like the previous short films from this series that Brakhage made over 25 years ago during the autumn of his career and life. Highly not recommended.
