Worth a look
cmorin6 May 2003
This little Canadian film comes complete with odd characters and situations. It's the story of a man who's inherited a hundred grand from an uncle who had only one wish, that his nephew not waste his life like he did. But the problem is that since he has received the money, he hasn't been compelled to do anything.

So, on the first anniversary of his uncle's death he decides to do something but he can't quite figure what. He meets this girl with a loose screw and gets mixed up with a rubber and some insulting neighbors who pretend to act crazy for insurance fraud. Sounds wacky? It is but the movie makes us care for those characters and their lives. If you don't mind movies that are more that your usual Hollywood fare, you should enjoy this movie.

Cool Movie

I am surprised that anyone has even seen "A Shot in the Face". it was filmed in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and starred Bruce Ramsey. With all these good reviews, you think someone would have listed HOW they saw it and where? I talked to the director last year 2005 and he said they had yet to find a distributor for this film and that was about it. By the way if my scene is still in the finished film. I played the transvestite prostitute in the jail scene with Bruce Ramsey. it was a fun experience being in the film and would like to know more about what is up with this movie! If anyone knows anything, contacting me would be great.

A Smart & Upbeat Romantic Comedy

I found this movie on You Tube one afternoon while looking for something entertaining to watch after the first few minutes I found it to be an intelligent, well made Canadian comedy. Bruce Ramsay is a good actor having seen him in Alive & Bonanno A Godfather's Story, this story has a cast of great characters that make you feel for them and the situations they find themselves in.

Jerry (Ramsay) a young man was left a hundred grand and a wish by his late uncle and that is not to waste his life, since he's had the money he hasn't been motivated to do anything. One day he meets a beautiful woman named Erin (Isabelle) who has a screw loose and the rest of the film follows them as they engage in conversation about many topics and then to the next day when they meet again during a bank robbery organized by the same guy (Lea) who held up a convenience store.

One of the funniest scenes takes place during the robbery and Ramsay's character strips naked and Erin shows up and he says "I don't want you to go to the mountain". That scene shows us that Jerry has fallen for her and when the film ends he leaves town with Erin that's what motivated the character to change his life.

An all around hilarious comedy with solid performances and a good ending.
