The film brings to our attention abuse of women and girls in a patriarchal and abusive family environment. However I do not like the fact that the ending suggests that both parents have now magically solved their problems and together again.
We all know that reality is not that simple. Abusive men do not deserve forgiveness as they will get worse. Especially physically abusive men become more and more physically dangerous with time. The only thing left to do is to save your kids and yourselves.
Also, even in a non-abusive environment, children are happier in a stable/calm single parent home than in an "intact" family with on-going fights.
