As dull as dishwater
zzmale5 April 2004
The literal translation of the title of this movie is: the hair is ruined.

This movie is sort of unique, but it is different than most Chinese movies of its time. Contemporary Chinese movies about the ordinary citizens are always the disguise which masks social criticism, whether it was about previous political movement such as the Cultural Revolution, or the new problems in the new era, such as drug usage. This movie is just a simple biographical accounts of several childhood friends who grew up in the same neighborhood, from when they were were young, all the way to the adulthood. Nothing extraordinary, so the entire plot is as dull as dishwater.
