Although the Cultural Revolution had officially ended in 1976, its effects were still felt years after its end, as this movie had accurately portrayed. In fact, many of victims did not get the official governmental rehabilitation until 1983, and before that, they still had to suffer under the wrongly accused crimes such as foreign spies and their personal life suffered consequently.
