When, as happens in this picture, a character appears in the first scene and comes again on the screen after several scenes, it is not sure of being recognized by many. To make a character under these circumstances sure of being known, some peculiar dress or mark would be very valuable. In this picture it is the heroine's mother whom this reviewer failed to recognize and this failure made him think unjustly that the story was poorly constructed. The possible reasons for his not recognizing the woman are: She was fifteen years older than when she first appeared; the reviewer might have been a little inattentive at that point; the photography might have been dim; and the projection poor. Many of the scenes in the play are beautiful and well acted. - The Moving Picture World, August 12, 1911
