Rekha the superwoman
Peter_Young27 June 2009
This film is really really bad. But there is one thing that made it look better than it would have and it is Rekha. Not that it's her best or one of her best performances, but there's something very amusing about the fun she apparently has in making this stupid film and on the other hand the seriousness with which she takes her character.

37 year-old Rekha plays in this film a young teacher who gets married to a policeman played by the ever-annoying Rajnikanth. Soon enough she is raped in front of her tied husband and her husband is killed when he tries to defend her. This is followed by her decision to become a policewoman herself. All of a sudden, this fragile woman becomes a fighter who breathes fire and is able to wrestle anyone, just like a typical Bollywood hero.

Rekha's character had that transformation from a shy woman to a brave, strong madame who seeks revenge, which is similar to her character in the great Khoon Bhari Maang. But while the latter is a great, much more engaging and intense thriller, this one is a cheap, unrealistic film with unbelievably terrible dialogues, dreadful acting (except Rekha of course) and action scenes which are just pure fantasy geared to kids.

Only in Bollywood can we see a film classified as drama which is actually science fiction. It's however such a fun watching Rekha fighting, it was so laughable that a woman can fight over 40 men and remain complete, without a pimple.

Rajnikanth is a terrible actor (can he be called an actor? I don't know) and I was so happy that one hour into the film his character died. It was a great relief and I consider it one of the high-points of this film. From then on the film centers on Rekha, who tries to do the best of what she is given. That's what makes her a great actor. She delivers her dialogues in a great and convincing way. Alok Nath, a great character actor, is weak and unimpressive.

There is also something very depressing about the main idea of the film: the law is dumb. No matter what you do, how much you try to prove someone's innocence or someone's fault, the innocent will turn out guilty and the criminal -- innocent. Every politician is corrupted, every policeman prefers money to honesty. I can't understand why certain filmmakers try to portray the law in such a way.

Don't watch this film unless you are a big Rekha fan. (4/10 - only for Rekha).

Nonsense

What you call such a film??

It's a standard masala film where we have corrupt politicians, honest cops .etc and yes it has Rajnikant who has a brief role and goes all about banging people in his style

In fact for 10-15 minutes in between we have continious fight scenes first Rajni banging Prem Chopra's goons, then some corrupt minister killing someone and then trying to rape Rekha.etc

The story is done to death, Direction is awful Music is okay

Rekha does well as the stereotypical cop, Rajnikant annoys Prem Chopra is typecast Shafi is okay rest are okay

Absolute Non Sense

The movie released during the 90's when anything and everything worked. The movie has poor direction, no story and no sense at all. Avoid it by far, and some scenes which are supposed to be emotional are hilarious. I don't know what made me watch this crap. The politician murders an Inspector and his wife decides to become a police inspector to take revenge. Age Criteria, Qualification nothing matters at all...all you need is the IPS job. Please guys have some sense. Rekha is the Mithun of Bollywood in this movie. The climax is the most funny scene of the movie, but it is better that the audience doesn't wait to watch it, definitely not worth it. Thanking my stars that I did not watch such a film on theater. Though I saved on money but definitely it is nothing but a waste of time.
