It is literally true that not one leading character in this picture behaves with a show of that common sense that is usually given to mortals. In consequence, it is a tragedy, brutal and distressing, which will not appeal to the healthy minded. This is not the fault of the players, who are human and even wise in their art; nor is it the producer's fault; but the fault of the writer of its script. A very poor offering. - The Moving Picture World, November 1, 1913
