Perfect movie for the current time.
Hunky Stud30 August 2011
I didn't plan to write a review, I am surprised that only two people have written the reviews. It is not a bad movie, so I am writing one of my own now.

Even though this film was made in 2007, it probably will get a better response now. Many people in the US got laid off in this economical plight. This film is a little depressing, because no one wants feel to be in afflictions. This is a perfect film for young people who get laid off, and tried to find love.

The producers probably didn't have a big budget, so the picture quality is not very good, a little dark and blur. Maybe the director intended it to be that way.

And the male protagonist always wear a light brown ugly coat, and the sleeves are longer than his arms! He is a good looking guy, this ugly coat made him less attractive, especially when he wears it almost everyday.

The casting is good, the couple seems to like each other. And one funny interesting thing is that the male protagonist has white skin. When he was doing a sex scene with the actress, he really got turned on, you can see that his neck and face area were all red.

Overall, I liked it even though it is a little slow.

Love in times of neoliberalism economy

Warning: Spoilers
This was the title missing for a 3-disc box set: Cansada de Besar Sapos, Efectos Secundarios and Corazón Marchito.

First, I must confess that I wrote this movie in my "must-see"list since I knew that Ana Serradilla was in it. If there's ever gonna be a reborn of the star system in Mexico, it should start with Ana, and them maybe Martha Higareda, and others.

This may be an inconvenient on my judgment about this movie, because I consider that there's no role Ana can't play and her presence dominate the whole frame. Hope that the producers would give her more complicated roles.

The story is about a couple of friends facing the thirty year old crisis, their different visions about it and the social problems originated in the economical recession (or crisis) of their country. One looks for a heart, the other for a job. Slow paced story founds one of its qualities in an environment of deception and repetitive social patterns. Also moves more to a deep thought of the relationships and loneliness in a mood of light comedy, heir of "When Harry met Sally", but very concerned about avoiding the clichés of the romantic genre. A direct reference may be "Vivir Mata" but just in the tone because the story is quite different. Problems may be in the script but acting is quite good. How much this film will get you depends on your own mood, but give it a try.

(Trivia note for fans of soap-operas: This film gets Ana Serradilla and Fernanda Castillo together, who played as Daniela in both Mexican versions of colombian hit soap opera: "Café con aroma de mujer".

this film i saw just because there was nothing else to see on DVD, and i thought well i want to waste a little time, and all the same i can fast forward it. but then the first ten minutes just grabbed me, and the story and acting are so convincing and funny, touching the reality of a part of Mexico and i am certain that of a lot of other Latin American countries. i just loved this film, is so emotive and so sincere. way to go Lucatero Eduardo, please continue the good job all the involved congratulations!! give this little film with a heart an opportunity, this film is really worth to watch you will enjoy the whole time. Mexico deserves this kind of films, the people involved, make a really excellent job.
