Between The River And The Sea
boblipton18 October 2020
Joë Hamman loves Renée Carl. but she loves another, who has rejected her. She threatens to kill herself and Hamman rides to save her.

Camargue is the bit of Provence that makes up the delta of the Rhone as it debouches into the Mediterranean. It has a distinctive variety of horse, and the cattle it raises are used for the fighting ring; its cowboys are called 'gardiens', so when director Leonce Perrett decided to make this little drama, who better than Western-Camembert star Hamman to play the eponymous lead? Perret takes advantage of the geography and architecture of the region, shooting it in his usual symmetric style.
