A doctor and his wife invited friends to dinner in their desirable castle;in her room,their daughter fell sick;the physician felt helpless and had to call doctor Prain (and not "Pain" as in the English subtitles) ,a specialist of diphtheria .Unfortunately,en route to the place,Prain's car broke down .As he had to intervene quickly (it's 1913!) ,he decided he would go through the woods.Iron teeth ,in the shape of a man-trap ,waited for him...
This is a well-told story ,which does not show its age :the parents' anxiety increasing, the doctor alone in the wood opening his instrument case,his explanation for his bandage ("I've stumbled over a root in the woods) ,and the final last picture of the little girl kissing the sacrificed hand which saved her life.
