Having spent a few Christmas holidays in Melbourne, I've managed to watch Carols by Candlelight, which I understand is a huge event in Melbourne. Originally I thought it was performed in Sydney but I realized it was performed at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne. I need to avoid being confused between Sydney and Sidney.
Anyway, I admire the entertainers in this show, broadcast live on Christmas eve. This is because they give up their family Christmas eve dinners to appear before the whole of Australia. Perhaps after the broadcast there's an after-Christmas-eve-party for the performers, stars, the choirs and everyone else.
