Legendary designer Elie Tahari has an eye for creating beautiful clothing so it’s no surprise that his Hamptons home is just as elegant as his designs. The designer of the global fashion empire invited NBC’s Open House to see what makes his beach barn the ultimate oasis. (Warning: You’ll have the urge to book a vacation after watching the video above.)
Located in Sagaponack, New York, Tahari’s house perfectly blends comfort with style. Tahari wanted to create an “earthy” vibe in his 200-year-old barn turned beach house, where there are no boundaries between his living space and the nature surrounding him.

Now that the temperatures are rising, a denim skirt is a perfect way to switch up on your usual cut-offs, while still pulling off a cool and casual look. Just look at model Bella Hadid, 20, who stepped out wearing a high-waisted flared style in Los Angeles yesterday.
The good thing is that the variations of the classic summer staple are more interesting than ever, with brands like Good American, Topshop, Missguided and more delivering anything-but-boring options featuring jewel embellishments, floral patchwork and distressed (but cool!) rips and tears.

Trailer compilations have, in recent year, become big business, they have also become increasingly important in terms of keeping trailers alive. In this time of streaming and digital downloads, where films come sans trailers and extras, there’s no real way – beyond these types of compilations – of seeing interesting trailers for obscure films you may not be aware of.
Titles such as Trailer War, Trailers from Hell, the UK’s very own Grindhouse Trailer Classics, Drive-In Delirium, Attack of the 80s, and 42nd Street Forever have not only kept the trailers alive in a physical format, but also allowed new audiences to discover new (old) films. The Catch was something of a surprise last spring, with a gimmick that pulled you in, but clever writing that kept you going after the series established the somewhat surreal premise.

Alice Vaughan (Mireille Enos) runs a serious investigative firm, with top-level clients and people working every angle for her, mostly to keep her clients secure from any number of threats. Her life takes an odd turn when her fiancé, Benjamin Jones (Peter Krause) reveals that he’s been pulling a long con on her.
Now a serious game of cat and mouse goes into full swing, and it seems that Alice might be in over her head.
It’s a show that’s as slick as can be, but manages it without having to dumb down the dialog, or rely on goofball dramatic turns that serve no purpose other than to make sure we have goofball drama.

The Lion Guard is a somewhat surprisingly good show airing on Disney Junior, and the story of Kion and his friends continues with a new DVD release The Lion Guard: Unleash the Power.
The release is the first collection of episodes available on DVD, and it’s not only a good selection because these are episodes that focus on the individual members of the Guard, but because these are some of the series’ most rewatchable efforts.
The show is not just a fun adventure for kids, but the series takes on a broad range within its episodic content, tackling some tricky issues, without actually decoding its own efforts and bogging down in overt explanation.
For example, the episode Fuli’s New Family spans a variety of issues, but chief among them is an examination of the idea that just because doing something seems objectively “right,” or, “how friends act,...

Boy that title is a mouth full! Welcome to part 2 of my Firefly book reviews! Last week I took a look at volume one of the official companion. If you didn’t read that one, give it a gander. When talking about it I mentioned it being a must own for fans of the short lived series. Well this phrasebook (yes that’s how I will refer to it – that title is just too long) is for the ultra collector.
One of the most charming aspects of Firefly was it’s unique dialect. From the rough and tumble western speak, to the Chinese curse words – the language of Firefly is meant to be a melting pot of languages. In some ways this was unique and original – in others it could be confusing and require a second pass.

Browncoats – rejoice! Volume one of the official Firefly companion has arrived and it is glorious. I wish I could call it the ‘hit series’ Firefly, but history has shown that it ran for 3 months on Fox .. 13 years ago! That aside, the series took on a new life on DVD which has allowed the rich mythology to continue to this day. Cue the theme song and open up the official companion published by Titan Books and prepare to be taken to Captain Malcom Reynolds’ world aboard Serenity.
Beginning with an exclusive interview with creator Joss Whedon – this companion walks you through his imagining of the universe. Whereas a lot of companions just contain pages and pages of script dialog – Firefly The Official Companion Volume One mixes dialogue with interesting tidbits and features of elements of the universe.
Insight into prop creation, costume design, set photos, character bios, cast bios – what more could you ask for?...

It is public knowledge in the Cof offices that I have a strong passion for all things James Bond. I grew up watching the films when TBS would run their 30 Days of Bond marathon. I upgraded to getting all of the VHS tapes from Superstore when they were blowing them out $2 each in a bargain bin. I bought my favorites as single DVD’s. Finally I then upgraded to the 4 volume DVD collection. Yes, my Bond credentials are real.
While we all are familiar with the film franchise, before they were films they were works of literature by Ian Fleming. The Daily Express then took those novels and made them into comic strips in the 1960’s. On January 19th Titan Books re-released a book containing all of the original comics that pertain to the infamous Spectre organization.
James Bond: Spectre – The Complete Comic Strip Collection is 269 pages of gorgeously detailed artwork.

Here is an awesomely macabre set of brainless zombie mugs that come from Turkey Merck Pottery. I love this kind of stuff, and these are exceptionally fantastic. Look at those designs! They will give all you coffee and hot chocolate drinkers out there a little taste of fear.

These mugs don’t come cheap, though. If you want them you’ll have to fork over around $220 for each mug. I know that price is a bit more terrifying than the mug itself, but they sure do look cool!

Joey Spiotto has released a new book titled Alien Next Door from Titan Books and it’s officially licensed by 20th Century Fox. The book imagines a rather caring side to the alien monster in a cute coffee table read that would make any fan of the series or guest at your home smile accordingly.
There are several meta jokes for Alien franchise fans to enjoy and many pages of funny scenarios with the Xenomorph that you can make up stories for if you have a little cool enough to appreciate it.
Here are few examples:
Joey Spiotto is a graduate of Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. He has worked in the film and video game industry including some awesome things like The Polar Express for Warner Bros. as well as The Sims and Dead Space video games. Be sure to visit him online at www.jo3bot.

For fans of Alien and/or Predator, you may already know that author Tim Lebbon has returned with another novel. It begins with Predator – Incursion: The Rage War 1. The Rage War is the first in a novel trilogy written by Lebbon (who previously wrote Alien: Out of the Shadows) consisting of the novels Predator: Incursion (released on October 20, 2015), Alien: Invasion, and Alien vs. Predator: Armageddon.
When Predator spacecraft begin entering human space in alarming numbers, headed toward Earth, the Colonial Marines assume it’s an invasion and launch a full military response. Then when they discover the presence of Xenomorphs, they realize the threat is more catastrophic than anything they could have imagined!

I haven’t been to the theater to see Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, but luckily the novelization worked well enough that I’m sure I can enjoy both as separate works. The Gothic horror novel, much like the movie I assume, is full of vivid scenery and intriguing characters. I thought perhaps the period setting would be difficult to grasp but author Nancy Holder was able to capture and challenge my imagination more often than not.
At times the dialogue can seem a little too modern, but perhaps there is reason for that in the movie. As a movie lover, I can’t say I wouldn’t rather look at the detailed visuals on the big screen instead, but as far as novelizations go this was very entertaining.

Ruby Rose is as hot as anyone these days, but apparently it doesn't translate when she tries selling stuff, even when the stuff's as famous as her. The "Orange Is the New Black" star put her hand painted, white, custom 1929 Mason and Hamlin baby grand piano up on eBay with a "Buy It Now" price of $11,900. We're told Rose and her fiancée are moving into a new place and don't have the room for it.

Concert tour memorabilia just got a little weirder. Numerous people on eBay are selling alleged air from Kanye West's 2013-14 Yeezus tour dates, with one bid price starting at $5,000. More than a dozen Zip-Loc bags of air from West's concerts were available for sale on eBay as of publication, with "Buy It Now" prices ranging between $100 and $1,500. Believe it or not, several of the listings had actual bids. Wow he can sell anything! The afro bluesy punk rock 'n' roll stylings of New Orleans-based singer-songwriter Booker are a breath of fresh air. (Think The Black Keys meet The Strokes.) Produced by Andrija Tokic (Alabama Shakes, Hurray for the Riff Raff), this lean 'n' mean guitar/bass/drums track is a gut punch to the over-processed pop crap currently being force-fed by automated DJs. His self-titled debut album was released a few weeks ago via Ato Records. Buy it now! And my wish is that he and Ty Segall record and/or tour together. Now that would be one badass collision of rawk!

"Belle"
What's It About? This 18th century English romance is about Dido Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), a biracial woman raised by her aristocratic great uncle and aunt, Lord and Lady Mansfield. She grows up alongside her cousin Elizabeth (Sarah Gadon) as equals and best friends, but as they come of age, their differences become all too apparent -- to each other and to their would-be suitors. Meanwhile, Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) is facing a trial as Lord Chief Justice of England that could change the future of slavery. Will Dido find love on her own terms?
Why We're In: It's an elegant period piece perfect for Jane Austen fans, and it's a subtle but effective examination of the intersection of class and race in 18th century England. Mbatha-Raw is fantastic, and director Amma Asante has an excellent eye for detail.

A Serbian Film was greeted with vast controversy over its portrayal of sexual violence and is consequently one of the most cut films in British cinema history having over 4 minutes chopped out of the original film by the BBFC and is still banned in multiple countries. The story follows Milos, a retired adult film star, who has fallen on hard times. In order to become financially secure he plunges once more into the depths of pornographic production only to realise too late the depraved nature of his new mysterious and menacing director’s vision. The director, Vukmir, and his cohorts will stop at nothing to complete their film and Milos is forced to carry out a series of increasingly depraved acts. He is desperate to escape this living cinematic hell but Milos cannot possibly know what unspeakable horrors Vukmir has in store for him next.

Charlie Chaplin's films have stood the test of time not necessarily because they are funny, at least not in today's terms of what classifies a film as a "comedy", but because the best of them are amusing, clever, witty, smart, emotional and, most of all, simple. But don't let their simplicity deceive you. The level of simplicity a film such as Chaplin's 1931 feature City Lights is not easily achieved. In fact, making something look simple may in fact be the hardest thing to accomplish in cinema. Without sci-fi plotlines, outside forces or even additional characters having an effect on the plot, City Lights is the story of Chaplin's iconic Tramp and the love he finds for a blind woman selling flowers on a street corner. As much as comedy has changed in 80+ years, a story such as this could hardly be told in today's cinemas and garner any kind of attention.

The second of the “Carte Blanche” double bills began with The Last 15, Antonio Campos’ sophomore short film which followed in the footsteps of Buy It Now (winner of Cinefondation‘s First Prize at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival) and competed for the festival’s 2007’s Palme d’Or. Influenced by the work of master filmmaker Michael Haneke who would ultimately influence Campos’ own filmmaking approach, The Last 15 focuses on the NYC dwelling filled with members of the Kirkland clan (familiar faces in Zoe Lister Jones and Christopher McCann are amongst the actors). With the family home’s ceiling crumbling, Campos displays a collective accumulating individual net worth/debts by utilizing intertitles (think tragic version of the Priceless ad campaign) to detail income, debt, possible financial woes. Twisted and mordant, the short is filled with overlapping spoken dialogue, shut out members hearing but not listening to one another in a controlled chaos setting,...

A short while back I rewatched the first four seasons of "The West Wing" and mentioned it in my weekly "What I Watched" columns and I got the impression it got a lot of you to watch the series for the first time. I also got the impression a lot of you liked it as much as I do. Well, now is your chance to own all seven seasons for a deeply discounted price. Amazon has got "The West Wing: The Complete Series Collection" on sale today for $79.99 in a nice, little faux-leather case. Personally I wish I owned this rather than all seven individual seasons, largely because it would take up less room on my DVD case, but such is life. You can buy the set right here and I feel comfortable suggesting this as a worthy purchase. The show was created by Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network) and...

One Georgia man named Cliff Kluge claims he's found the original recipe for Coca-Cola among a box of papers he purchased at an estate sale. Though the authenticity of the 1943 recipe has not been confirmed, Kluge is auctioning the paper off on eBay with a starting price of $5 million and a Buy It Now pricetag of $15 million.
"You don't stumble on things like this very often," he tells a local NBC affiliate. "It's a letter, and a formula, and the processes to make it. I think it's a little deeper than having fun; I think it's the recipe for Coca-Cola."
Coca-Cola denies that this recipe is the same as the one that was developed in the 19th century and is kept safe in a locked bank vault. "Through the years, many have tried to crack the secret formula, but no one has been able to reproduce the 'real thing,'...

Deadly Premonition: Directors Cut is an open-world game set in Greenvale, a secluded rural town in North West America. Playing as FBI Special Agent Francis York, gamers are charged with solving the shocking, ritualistic and brutal murder of a local girl, unravelling the mystery via clues, lies and a trail of bodies. Agent York travels around Greenvale in a variety of vehicles – entertaining gamers with facts about movies along the way – encountering eccentric natives, supernatural creatures and a folklore killer, who stalks his victims in a blood-drenched rain coat.
Having already seen a console release in 2010 on the Xbox 360, you may have heard the rumours surrounding this game, but let me use this review to put the record straight. Deadly Premonition is Still (even in this directors cut version) one of the best worst games ever made. Ever.
