A pathetic story of artist life in Paris and America is told with feeling and refinement, but with little appreciation of dramatic values, in this two-reel photoplay. There is no clash of human wills in the unfolding of the plot, the death of the heroine supplying the main motive. The author has evidently not made a close study of dramatic construction and learned to get the proper focus on his characters. The two leading persons of the drama in question, are kept too much in the background. Aside from a few ungrammatical sentences and the abuse of the overworked comma in the inserts, the handling of the material given them reflects great credit upon the Selig forces. The atmosphere of the different scenes is faithfully preserved; the acting is also praiseworthy. Stella Razeto and Jack McDonald are in the cast. - The Moving Picture World, March 27, 1915
