an impressionist ballad (full of sound and fury) in Beyrouth
thomas-schmitt320 February 2006
From Beyrouth with Love is not a fiction nor a documentary. One of the best way to describe it would be "filmed diary" or "notes on a town". Don't expect to "learn" anything about Libanese wars in this movie : no talking head appears in it. You're suppose to feel that people were pushed down this building you see in the sunset. And thank to a really remarkable super 16 photography, you might, if you don't focus too much on the corny poetry at the end. So, if you have half an hour to visit one of the most interesting city on earth, just go for it: From Beyrouth is a beautiful love letter... with a little corny poetry at the end, as a postcard of a building in the sunset, when you're not suppose to know that people have been pushed down from it. A real testimony about today's love.

A Page From Beyrouth Journal
Chrysanthepop11 November 2010
Filmed like a video diary that normally features as extras on the DVD of a documentary film, 'Ça Sera Beau - From Beyrouth with Love', introduces the viewer to the raw streets of Beirut. What one easily notices is how broken the city is and how vulnerable it is to danger (mines, bombing and bullet attacks etc). Through haunting images, Waël Noureddine creates an atmosphere where danger could be lurking at any corner of the street but at the same time it reflects that sadness of what has become of Beirut, a city that was once rich with culture and tradition that has now fallen hostage to crime. Midway through the film, the pacing tends to be a bit slow and repetitive. This isn't, by any means, an educational video on history itself, as some would assume. It's more of a video journal.
