It's the Clampetts' second California Xmas but Granny still can't distinguish fake snow from the real thing until she's told: "Don't even know how to snow proper out here".
Mr. Drysdale has had extravagant gifts delivered but the Clampetts are still a little clueless. Elly mistakes a new hair dryer for a fancy rain bonnet. Granny thinks the big console TV set is a new washing machine because when she turns it on, a nature program is showing a huge lake complete with dolphins and people waterskiing.
Snooty Mrs. Drysdale huffs "I REFUSE to go slumming on Xmas" until she learns that the Clampetts have a special gift for her, too - which she believes may be the Hope Diamond. Will she be disappointed?
This is a great script from what I believe to be the best season of the long-running show. The actors have all completely settled into their roles, the fish-out-of-water concept is still fresh, and any offering where Mrs. Drysdale gets her comeuppance is good for a laugh. 8/10.
