ONE DISTINGUISHED BOARDER!
tcchelsey3 May 2024
I think the bucket of water that gets "accidentally" thrown in Arthur Treacher's face --may -- have had something to do with his decision to retire from acting not too long after this episode. You be the judge. Whatever the case, he's absolutely priceless. Another classic performance.

Treacher returns for a second episode, playing the new butler and chauffeur for the Clampetts, all the idea of Mr. Drysdale, who wants to bring some class into their lives. What Jed and Granny think, HOWEVER, is their new guest wishes to rent a room! And when he decides to leave, Granny gets out her shotgun because he hasn't paid any rent! Best scene has Granny on top of the mansion, ready to blast away,

Just outrageous material written by series writer Mark Tuttle, and once again, prim and property Arthur Treacher is the whole show. We will never forget him opposite Shirley Temple, and in later years, for appearing on this show in a comedic take-off of himself. Arthur went on to appear as a guest on many talk shows, and inspired by the success of Colonel Sanders, went on to open his own famous chain of restaurants.

This episode also holds the distinction of having three animal members appearing together. Arnie the dog and Duke the dog turn up, in addition to Judy the chimp, probably the most famous of all for her appearances on LOST IN SPACE and DAKTARI.

Best of SEASON 3 EPISODE 12 remastered.
