Nothing new but excellently done.

A former judge, blinded with acid by the mother of a young man he sentenced ten years for stealing, marries a young woman, a young gal who also has a lover. A man of her age. The ex judge is in charge of a theater and his young wife belongs to the actors troop. So, the two men in love with the woman talk about her, knowing what it is going. But this situation can't continue forever,and the former judge kills his wife's lover. he strangles him. Then the investigation begins, with Michael Rennie as the detective. You have already got that this is no more no less than a COLUMBO series scheme; the perfect murder commit by the lead character and the cat and mouse between hm and the detective. But the difference between this and a COLUMBO episode is that here, the judge s arrested and put under trial and acquitted. I won't tell you more folks, not spoil your pleasure. Efficient and magnificently pulled by convincing performances.
