Greg sings and smokes
jdollak1 August 2016
Notable for the Greg's performance of Till I Met You ("Clowns never laughed before/Beanstalks never grew...") this is a charming episode. The primary conflict plays out in typical Brady fashion, but what makes this episode special is the start of a generation gap between the parents and the kids. It's still not a gap that they aren't willing to cross, but this includes Greg spouting strange attempts at 60s lingo.

It's also one of the best efforts that has been made at humanizing Greg. While his performance of the song is pretty lackluster, (except for the fantastic reaction shots of his brothers) there's a brief bit later on when he's listening to his song on a cassette. This implies that he's actually thinking about the song, and that he might be interested in improving it. A big step forward for characterization.

The smoking storyline is exactly what you expect.

Also notable to me in this episode - Jan looks strangely different. I'm not sure what it is.
