The Richmond File: Call Me Enemy
Prismark101 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Callan is on his way to a large country house and he is nervous. This is a treacherous mission and his life could be in danger.

It is the return of the KGB agent Richmond (T P McKenna) who appeared earlier in the fourth series.

Richmond seems to have defected to Britain and Callan's job is to interrogate him. Hunter is listening in as the rooms are bugged.

It soon becomes clear that Richmond is playing mind games. He talks about a traitor in the higher echelons of British security. He names Meres.

Before long Meres turns up at the house.

This is a character piece between Callan and Richmond. It could be a two hander.

However Richmond is too manipulative for his own good. He is a born and bred liar. His job is to create chaos and confusion.

There is also a status distinction between both men. Despite being KGB, Richmond seems to be familiar with finer things in life. He has a higher army rank, a colonel.

Meanwhile Callan is lowly, both in life and the army. For a moment though Richmond might have pierced Callan's armour.

In the end Hunter shows that he can also be manipulative.
