The One On Friday The 13th...

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoy this episode. It's interesting, and also a little scary.

In this episode, it's Friday The 13th and to celebrate the film and the date, Dawson plays practical jokes on all of his friends, except Jen, which leaves her feeling left out. So she insists that she can handle what ever joke may be coming her way, but when one does, it terrifies her. But it turns out that it wasn't Dawson, it was Cliff, a guy interested in Jen, who thought it would be a good idea. It wasn't. That night, everyone gathers at Dawson's house and perform a séance, which leads to nothing good.

Overall, I give this episode a 7 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Great.

My favorite Dawson's Creek episode.

Warning: Spoilers
As a fan of slasher/horror of the 90s, I was bound to love that episode. I remember it being part of the best of season 1 and 2 collection. And it was. This and Beauty Contest are some of the best of season 1. What I love the most about The Scare, is how creepy, in a way that fits the Dawson's Creek universe and teen drama tone, it can be. You have all sorts of winks at popular horror movies and franchises, but also subplots about a real life serial killer. And other weirdos, roaming the streets of Capeside, on this very special day. Which could've been Halloween, but I guess it would've ruined the timeline, back where writers really cared about continuity. Jennifer McComb is hysterical, she's one of the highlights of the episode, for me. And looking back, I really like Scott Foley's part hinting at his Scream 3 character, when the movie was still to be written... Of course, the soundtrack wasn't too commercial, so all original songs were kept on both the DVD and streaming versions. Which makes me appreciate this episode, and the overall season even more.

I don't know if it is because I'm obsessed with horror movies and understood all the refrences in this episode but this was actually great. Sure, the stuff with Ursula and Eddie felt inconsistent and weird but I loved the tension it added to the episode. (and can I say how much Pacey has changed? I love it) And it's not like this episode is non-cannonical just because it's halloween themed, the plot continues progressing here. The ending was just icing on the cake. The reveal about the lady killer and the sweet moment between Dawson and Joey, I might start liking these series again.
