One of the good qualities of the writing on "Designing Women" was infrequent admissions that some of their dietrabes were consumed with man bashing. An early conversation between Suzanne, Mary Jo and Julia indicates this, although one thing that they forgot to mention in their complaints about men inventing and high heels women had issues with runs in stockings or painful feet, then why do they wear them? It's obvious that Suzanne (and Charlene) were written to even out the slight misandry infrequently in the script.

This episodes focuses on Charlene's younger brother Odell (Gregory Wurster) who wants to elope with his girlfriend (after Suzanne questions his sexuality) whose father is feuding with Charlene and Odell's father. It's a sweet little romance where Charlene has to play not only fairy godmother to the happy couple but feud breaker, bringing the two clans together and giving Suzanne some funny cracks at Charlene's family's expense.

Then there's Anthony's entering into a dance contest with Bernice which shows them in some hysterically funny costumes. Of course Bernice gets the bulk of the funniest lines, well not a difficult task since Alice Ghostley could take the dullest throwaway line and get laughs out of it. If the growing friendship between Anthony and Suzanne got eyebrows raised (becoming one of the most memorable friendships in TV history), this is where the growing fondness between Anthony and Bernice begins. Of course, it will be a while before we hear Bernice's catchphrase regarding Anthony, but in the meantime, sit back and enjoy the ride.
