A few seasons earlier, "The Dick Van Dyke Show" had an episode where a Spanish woman, Maria, came to live with the Petries...even though they only wanted a maid once a week. The agency somehow decided to drop her on the Petries...and the maid has a broken arm and has little idea how to be a housekeeper. It was an okay episode at best.
Now in Season Five in "Viva Petrie", supposedly Maria (who you assume is back in Spain) calls and asks the Petries to help her boyfriend find a job. But like the previous episode with Maria, the boyfriend just shows up at their house and expects to live with them.
I am not sure why they made this episode. The first one wasn't very good and this one makes even less sense. A weird episode that just doesn't seem to fit in the series.
