She's no dummy!
stones7811 August 2015
The segment titled, "Mary Ann and Miss Sophisticate", was the star of the show for this episode, and it revolved around a marionette(dummy)coming to life, and reversing roles with the ventriloquist. It starred Annette Funicello, Maren Jensen, who was very convincing, and Don Galloway; regarding Jensen, I see she didn't have many more acting roles after this episode, but she was very good as the creepy Valerie. This story may remind you of another evil dummy from the film "Magic", from 1978, although the story's slightly different. As good as this was, there's an awkward moment when George(Galloway), who's the manager/lover of Mary Ann(Funicello), makes love to Valerie, as he was possessed(I think). Supposedly, Valerie "becomes" Mary Ann, but that doesn't let George off the hook in my opinion, and it's an odd scene to watch and probably should've been cut from the final print. The other story has a man, played by Dennis Cole(1 of 9 total appearances!), wishing to reprise his role as "Jungle Man", a television character from years before. Other notable faces include France Nuyen, Barbara Luna, and Dick Butkus, who seemed a bit out of place. Nothing that exciting happens here, but this segment contains the rare request of a person wishing to live on Fantasy Island permanently, which is approved by Mr. Roarke, and I feel this adds a nice touch to end the show.

super creepy but hot ventriloquist doll, shirtless Cole, whatever you like

Warning: Spoilers
Pretty good episode. i was happy with it, though it started off with me having to rewind a few times to understand stuff. The first time i had to rewind three times trying to understand what Tattoo said. He was talking about Dennis Cole and Jungle man and i think he said he did fairs or something. Then when the Ventriliquist lady showed up i had to rewind again to get the gist of what was going on with her, i will explain next paragraph.

Hi, so here s what was up with the ventriloquist. It was that Disney 50's lady again and parts of her personality got embedded in her doll Valeries personality and part was hers and part was theirs etc etc. Basically in a really creepy and great acting way, Mr Rourke tells her to give her sanity and piece of mind to find herself apart from her doll, he will have to make the doll real, so she can confront it. Once you figure it out, its super creepy and the way Mr Rourke said it was so great using his hands to illustrate it. So anyhow she is the "most famous current Ventriliquist" according to Tattoo. name one other, go ahead. So anyhow the doll comes to life and becomes this real hot chic whose all bad ass. She realizes that the lady can feel her but she cant feel the lady so she takes advantage of that and spanks her wrists , does kinky stuff if you have a even slightly perverted mind and makes love to her love interest. I was like maybe Mary Jo the ventriloquist is happy for her boyfriend making love to this much hotter woman but she wasn't.

So long story short, i got really creep ed out by a ventriloquist doll, then really turned on when she came to life, then really turned on by her evil sadistic ways, and kinda upset at the lame ending where all the sudden Mary Jo learns to repel her and throws her in a fire (as a doll, not the actress but the actress had really big hair so that would be interesting for my pyro side.). It was a really good , what i would call "I'm so blanked up i need to go to Fantasy Island to separate myself from my doll and hope i kill it before its hot really hot body kills me" episode. She ends up going home with the guy that made love withe her doll, that she barely even kissed and said they were getting married. that happens a lot on Fantasy Island. Hi i m Jane, hi I'm bob. lets get married.

The other story was some stupid actor played by Dennis Cole, i thought i saw all the ones he is in. I think i read it was 9. He is so desperate to get a role he was type casted in , Jungle man, that he agrees to go back but when he goes back, its all the actors and plots and stuff but its real. The Jungle people are in danger of being destroyed by progress of some guy who will ruin there land for minerals. i was like, i know this guy. seeing the actors credits, it was Dick Butkus. When i was a little kid in the early 80's i remember a really poorly inflated , old beat up leather huge football in my garage that was too big for my early 80's small hands. It had an autograph on it that said Dick Butkus (mass printed, not memorabilia) and as i got older and learned words, Dick Butt Kiss made me laugh. huh huh huh. So Dennis Cole meets his love, Mana Mara or something like that, not hot. then all the villagers were cooking up something i thought was Heroine. its is nice to find out they were just making poison darts for the finale when the shoot them as warnings, way too many, waste of ammo , to prevent sale of isle. then Dennis Cole walks in, then the kidnap his girlfriend, the they shoot poison darts, then Dick Butkus is like screw this and then all the guys with spears just stand there when all they have to do is stab Dennis Cole. Lame.

So really good episode, if your a guy, you got that ventriloquist chic. if your a chic, you got shirtless Dennis Cole and those jungle guys. Just don't look up any of the main characters Bio's . Depressing stories. they are dead.
