Commercializing the Captain
JordanThomasHall4 October 2017
Captain Gregg's (Edward Mulhare) image is being used on the label for Yankee Skipper Clam Chowder. Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) jokes with the highly-agitated spirit that someone pictured him as "the spirit of clam chowder". She summons Claymore (Charles Nelson Reilly) to stop the Captain's image from being used. He goes to the advertising company, the Hooper Company in Boston, to meet with George Hooper (Tom Kennedy) and the chowder company's president Admiral Snedaker (accomplished character actor Cecil Kellaway). They sway Claymore by paying him $5,000 for the advertising rights to use the Captain and also Gull Cottage. While the Admiral says flattering things about Captain Gregg that wins him over, Mrs. Muir is nonplussed and looks to move away. The Captain must rethink his position. As with most episodes that gives the character of Claymore plentiful screen time, it's a comical offering.
