Perhaps the greatest cat fight ever filmed for television
rudy-309 March 2009
Warning: Spoilers
There are only two residents in Death Valley, Mesquite Swede(the reliable Percy Helton) and Packer Jo (Peggy Lee in a great Mae West impression.) When Mesquite dies, his will stipulates that the property he owns will go to whomever recreates his mother's famous trek across the desert. Three people enter the race, April Dancer (Uncle), Dolly X (THRUSH), and Ladybug Byrd (for you 1960's fans, think Lady Bird Johnson.) UNCLE and THRUSH both want the land because of a valuable mineral is contained there. Ladybug has her own motives. Herb Edelman gives a great as always performance as Dolly X's THRUSH companion. Mark Slate has little to do except to trade sexual innuendos with Packer Jo. Ruth Roman is a great villain; she should have been allowed to return as a recurring character. The reason I gave this episode a 9 because the weaponry was silly, as was the opening shoot-out.

Guest stars almost save the day
wilvram15 April 2020
A studio-bound entry, slightly below average for the series, but with the compensation of two enjoyable guest star appearances. Peggy Lee looking magnificent has some amusing one-liners in Mae West mode, while Ruth Roman seems to be enjoying herself as Dolly X, a feisty THRUSH agent, able to throw people about a la Cathy Gale of The Avengers. She generally bests UNCLE'S April Dancer whom is made to appear a bit of a dim-wit, at one stage burying her up to her neck in sand. Pity they didn't bring her back in another show. At least April is usually slightly more assertive than this.
