"Springtime in the Ghetto" finds Florida doing her best to prepare the Evans abode to win an award for best looking home in the projects. Unfortunately, today is the day that Michael chose to help out his fellow man, in this case the legendary Ned the Wino (Raymond Allen, first of four), who seems committed to sobriety. They even manage to get him shaved and cleaned up before committee head Mrs. Vinson (Robin Braxton) arrives to make the presentation. She almost recognizes their 'cousin' as Ned the Wino: "same profile, same mustache, same breath!" The big surprise is that Mrs. Vinson reveals that Ned is her husband (James: "Lord, have mercy!"), and that her family drove him to drink!
