Guns don't kill people, people kill people
kevinolzak7 January 2017
"The Family Gun" typically adopts the liberal spin about guns, choosing to ignore all the good things about them (to this day Chicago remains one of the nation's most violent cities, law abiding citizens easy targets, not allowed to defend themselves with firearms). Michael is convinced that more black cops are the answer to high crime in the ghetto. James has recently purchased a .38 handgun for the family's defense, forbidding everyone but himself from using it. His fearful wife naturally objects, trying to demonstrate the danger of firearms by repeating a number of phony left wing statistics, such as someone being shot every minute of the day (careful where you get your information). Officer Wigmore (Dave Turner) shows up in answer to Florida's stolen purse, a week after she reported it, confirming that crimes occur so quickly that they can't keep up with them. Just then Thelma returns home from the drugstore hysterical, almost a victim of rape, James intending to use his handgun after the officer begs off. The apartment becomes a disaster area as he searches for the now missing firearm, clothes randomly tossed as Florida grows more and more frantic. The solution suits Florida to a tee, though nothing is truly resolved.
