Cute

I think this was a cute and sweet episode. I think it showed what could have happened to some of the former vaudeville entertainers. I enjoyed mertz and kurtz. The act at the tropicana looked fun and entertaining as I believe that's how a lot of these acts went back in the 1920s. So this was a throwback for some and new to the people who didnt get to see it. The girls were cute in the act. Plus it was sweet that the grandson was so proud of his grandpa. I always enjoy i love Lucy and they honestly opened doors in television that people can understand by watching and learning through laughter, watching and listening.

Kind of cute

Warning: Spoilers
It strikes me watching this one and certain others that Fred and Ethel are more in love when they are preforming together. This is a recurring theme and probably is the reason they got together in the first place. They as we know were in vaudeville before they became the owners of the apartment building. So it's nice to see it's also nice to see Lucy get to perform and not have Ricky trying to prevent it . I actually rather like the old time "bikinis" lol ! I wouldn't want to swim in them but they are cute . Funny little moment when Lucy dressed up as the maid and Ricky walked in she kissed him without even thinking she was blowing her cover! The plot has some plausibility issues from Barney's side but the Ricardos and Mertz's step up and help their friend.

Not the best

I don't care for it. Maybe others like it but I don't. It's a shame because Lucy pretending to be Fred and Ethel's maid could've been hilarious but it was cut short for the second act in Ricky's club. Then again, there are three writers writing 31 shows, that takes guts.

Choppy episode

Warning: Spoilers
While it's nice they all want to help Barney Kurtz it made for a lame second half. The first half as others point out is fairly funny. It's also interesting that none of them blink an eye that Barney has been lying to them all and he's been right there in New York the whole time. The dude has too much pride and the story doesn't add up. Why does he need to send money for his grandson's education? Don't they have public schools in Indiana? Can a cook from a restaurant make enough for some expensive private school.? It's all very sketchy. He apparently avoids old friends and family because he's no longer in show business. I do find him sympathetic in a pathetic kind of way but there is too much that doesn't add up and it's more sad in a way.

Fine 1st Half - Unwatchable 2nd half
eddielouie-112 February 2022
The first half of the episode is perfectly enjoyable, typical Lucy fare with Lucy playing maid to Ethel and Fred. But the second half with the horrible musical act is among the worst segments in the entire series. Once has to imagine the fictional Tropical audience was wildly disappointed to pay money to see Ricky Ricardo and getting these four amateurs / hasbeens doing this hacky material.
