The back of Lucy's head !
kellielulu14 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Lucy is initially excited about the idea of Ricky making a movie and going to Hollywood but changes her mind when she reads about the long list of Hollywood beauties that might be in the movie with him!

That however changes when it turns out Lucy is asked to be in the screen test too. She of course has big ideas about it ! Ricky throws cold water on it but Lucy is not deterred . Watch for her scene when she repeats Ricky's admonishing her.

The screen test itself is the hilarious. The director and his assistant are a good match for Lucy and very funny themselves. Lucy never gives up on getting her face not just the back of her head on film. The director has the final say on that.

Quiet On Set! This is a Take!

I quote this episode a lot. Lucy and Ricky test screen scene is too good. The whole thing is top notch. Lucy will do anything to stand out. "Quiet on set, this is a take! It's all yours sir." "Get that girl I'm going to make her a star!"

The Talent Of Lucy
richard.fuller11 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Some episodes have little quips, moments, bits that often leave me wondering 'which episode was that in?' This is why I've taken to reviewing episodes, such as the Cornel Wilde episode, in which Ethel Mertz is putting a pair of scissors on the end of a broom handle to pass up to Lucy on another balcony (so Lucy can cut up her housecoat and make a rope to climb down!), and Ethel quips "you think I'd be used to this sort of thing by now." I guess it is we have become used to Lucy's antics, we really do take them for granted.

Two gems stand out to me in this episode.

As Lucy is reading the name of actresses considered to be working with Ricky in this movie, she goes from excited to jealous. While not brilliantly executed, it is amazing the scope of this woman to suddenly find reasons to be opposed to Ricky's chance at stardom. Fred and Ethel are still happy, but Lucy . . . . is unsure.

The second one, I have always laughed about, as Ricky tells Lucy she won't do anything to disrupt his screen test, "They won't see anything but the back of your head. I speck you there in five minutes! You're just there to fid me the lines!" He leaves, and Lucy fumes. Perhaps one of the funniest moments for her mocking his accent, "Speck ya there in five minutes! Your just there to FID me the lines!" It was like watching dynamite being lit.

You can't help but wonder sometimes if Ricky would have been better of just giving Lucy every opportunity left and right.

Probably would have saved a lot of wear and tear, if you ask me.
