listed air date incorrect
brichardson-386-65109926 November 2012
Although this is an excellent episode, as all were, I am puzzled by the air date listed in the synopsis. This show supposedly aired on Nov 28, 1954, putting it in the fifth season. However, Barry Gordon, who plays Harry Johnson, wasn't born until December, 1948. This would make him five years old when this episode supposedly aired. Dennis Holmes, who played Jimmy Evans, wasn't born until October, 1950, which would have made him four years old. The third clue comes at the end of the program when Jack Benny lists Fabian as one of the candidates to play him in the show. Fabian's first television appearance, that I can find, is on a Red Skelton episode in 1960. This does not take anything away from the quality of the program, I just thought that it was interesting. This happens to be a pet peeve of mine. I appreciate accuracy in these episode logs.

Can We Get Rock Hudson for the Lead
dougdoepke22 October 2010
Mildly funny 30-minutes taking place in Jack's home and office. Jack auditions actors for his life story, but highlight comes early with Mel Blanc's Western Union man. His 5-minute sob story on the phone is hilarious. Will he now get a bigger tip from our notorious tightwad. Other highpoint is Barry Gordon's 10-year old actor's agent, which he plays like a little shark. Jack's reaction is both surprising and amusingly appropriate.

Jack again provides the needed thread of support while letting the supporting cast hit the highlights—a tribute to his comedic judgment and ability to put laughs before ego.
