Kojak gets the wide open spaces
bkoganbing28 January 2013
Telly Savalas and Kevin Dobson get an extradition job after a witness on a case they've worked is found killed. Another witness was Vincent Baggetta who has gone underground. But feelers are put out and they find that Baggetta is in a one horse town called Cory, Nevada where he's being held on suspicion of a drunk driving incident.

To say that when Kojak and Crocker reach Cory, Nevada that they find difficulties is putting it mildly. Baggetta as it turns out is a home town boy and the locals including law enforcement just don't like these city slicker cops ordering the good old boys around.

Kojak's one saving grace is an old pioneer lady played by Judith Lowry who looks like she could have been an original settler. She's pretty sharp and hasn't lost a single marble.

A change of pace and scenery for Astoria's favorite son.

City Boys Go Out In The Wilds Of Nevada
ccthemovieman-116 May 2012
Kojak out West? Yah, partner, that's what we get here in this different type of episode.

Theo and Frank wind up in a one-horse town a couple hundred miles from Reno, chasing down a NY thug ("Arnie Saxler") they need to testify to bring down a big crook. Saxler, played well by Vincent Baggetta, had fled to Nevada. He obviously didn't want any part of a court appearance. Can't blame him; testifying against a mob boss can't increase your chances of living a long life.

Anyway, we get the stereotypical story where the yahoos are hostile and the good city boys have to fight off the locals to accomplish what they want to do. Some of those scenes are little silly, but overall, it's still a very entertaining story. Judith Lowry is a hoot playing "Lily Weed." She was in her mid-80s when she played this role, and sadly, died the following year after this was aired.
