An arsonist on the payroll
bkoganbing5 April 2013
David Ladd guest stars in this Kojak episode as a lawyer at the bottom of bottom feeding attorneys. He's a divorce attorney and Shera Danese wife of one of Kojak's detectives Joey Aresco has retained him in a divorce action.

There was an episode of Law And Order where Jill Clayburgh and Tony Roberts played a pair of ruthless divorce attorneys who went at each other like divorce was a bloodsport. Those two had nothing on David Ladd who has an arsonist on the payroll. This is to destroy some assets and cut himself in on hefty insurance settlements.

Which he does in the Aresco/Danese divorce, blowing up a sailboat that Aresco has. But his arsonist is careless and gets himself killed as well. And then Ladd tries to frame Aresco for the arson.

The entire Manhattan South Squad wants to nail him, but he's pretty clever. He's also arrogant and that's what does him in. Aresco's former partner Paul Larson gets it done though he has to break a lot of rules to do it. Something that Telly Savalas doesn't like one bit.

This is one of my favorite Kojak episodes. I think it will become a favorite of anyone who watches it or hates lawyers.
