Do It Yourself Clamp
Hitchcoc1 April 2015
There are to stories at work here. One is a young soldier possibly losing his leg because of an ineffective vascular clamp. The boys go about trying to produce one as Charles makes fun of their efforts. In the other plot, Klinger inadvertently throws away Margaret's wedding ring. She goes crazy, making life miserable for Klinger and the entire camp. The humor in this episode has to do with a series of characters who do their best to help with the production of the clamp, including Zelmo Zale. There is an appearance by Keye Luke, the number one son of Charlie Chan in the old movie series. Anyway, there is a cool conclusion.

Warning: Spoilers
Harry Morgan directs this episode where Klinger is facing eternal punishment because he supposedly lost Margaret's ring. Oh dear. This episode has an all's well that ends well aspect, although Margaret doesn't get her real ring back.

Keye Luke

Warning: Spoilers
Keye Luke makes an appearance and helps the 4077 with a clamp and a ring . The surgeons need a special clamp that doesn't exist. War interestingly enough often produces things out of necessity that go forward into the future. Problem here is they simply can't commit to making it fast enough. Meanwhile Margaret's wedding ring is accidentally thrown away by Klinger against hope that it may turn up . Margaret works her nurses to exhaustion and and Klinger too . Mr. Shin ( Keye Luke) is quite the inventor and salesman and Hawkeye and BJ look for something to placate Margaret. Mr . Shin has just the thing., an identical ring! He has dozens of them . Margaret's hubby Donald is pretty cheap and Margaret can't even tell! Hawkeye and BJ buy one and ask to engrave it as Donald had . The inscription is hardly romantic and in the words of Mr. Shin " peeyou ! " . He also is able to make them the clamp in record time. Klinger gives Margaret the ring and she noticed a slight change in the inscription. She is spewing out a lot of venom but Klinger gives her something to think about.

A humbled Margaret gives thanks and the clamp is a success.

Keye Luke Is the most valuable player as a character and an actor in this episode. As good as it is I think it's elevated by his part and makes it a more memorable episode.
