Food of the Gods

Potter is on a rampage through the unit. It seems he got an angry letter from his wife and he fears things have gone sour. The problem is that, try as he might, he can't get hold of her. He refuses to bend the ears of any of his friends. The more interesting plot element is a young soldier who is in the MASH because he fell in a foxhole and strained some ligaments. It turns out that he is a highly thought of chef. When he told the army he was a cook, they put him in the infantry. The food he serves is phenomenal and soon Klinger has started up a restaurant. The guy should be back in his unit, but the guys do everything to keep him in camp so he can cook for them. Margaret turns out to be the hero in this episode. Of course, the whole thing is incredibly far fetched.

This episode sees an intersection between the main plot (Potter cranky at everyone because his wife is upset at his ongoing absence) and the subplot (Conway, who is a soldier/chef who doesn't belong on the front line). Conway is played by Ed Begley Jr, just three years before hit fame with a leading role in St. Elsewhere.
