The second part of the opening episode serves well as an introduction to the characters. The thief Taja (Kristanna Loken, "Terminator 3", "Painkiller Jane") becomes a friend of Kung Lao, says "I want to do something useful for a change" and joins the team. Siro is more reluctant, but they have a common enemy in Shang Tsung. Thus they become a trio and everything is prepared for the following series.
