This show was ahead of its time

I couldn't believe that a black comedy THIS black made it to television, and I loved every minute of it. I had a feeling the show wouldn't last because it was so different. The lead character wasn't someone you'd want as a friend (or enemy) and he didn't pay the anticipated consequences for his treacherous acts. The recent FX show "Damages" has a similar lead; Glenn Close's character is appealing despite her questionable ethics. Still, Profit was unique in the degree to which the lead character's behavior bordered on evil ... but his piercing, deep-set eyes and heavy lashes made up for it all. I've never forgotten the show and I've followed Andrian Pasdar's career since then because I was so taken with him in Profit.

One of the best dark TV dramas ever produced

I couldn't believe that such a black TV drama THIS black made it to television. I knew that this show wouldn't last long because it was so different from anything that was on TV before. Adrian Pasdar as Jim Profit was so different from any other character on TV at the time, and Jim Profit is STILL the benchmark from which I measure other TV and movie characters. I still use quotes from the TV series in my daily life because they are that well written. The lead character (Jim Profit) didn't pay the anticipated consequences for his treacherous acts which made this show so deliciously wonderful. FX shows like "Nip/Tuck" and "Damages" has similar leads. But Profit was so unique and contrary in the degree to which the lead character's behavior bordered on evil, yet was dedicated to the concept of his idea of family. Adrian Pasdar was the perfect choice to cast as Jim Profit. At one time I had hoped he would have been a possible candidate for a Batman live action movie. But alas, that never came to be... I've never forgotten the show and I've followed Andrian Pasdar's career since then because I was so taken with him in Profit. It's nice seeing him again on television even on such a silly show like Heroes where his talents are SO wasted. His character could have been SO much more than the stupid nonsense the Nathan Petrelli character gets embroiled in.

And i dont said that lightly ! Its right up there with the Lost 2 part pilot or the breaking Bad Pilot or the X files pilot.

The Pilot of Profit is an absolute masterpiece of 90 minutes, Adrian Pasdar is fantastic in the role, the writting is Amazing and the directing... The atmosphere this show created is so dark and menacing. Genius ! I was on the edge of my seat !! And cannot wait to see épisode 2 !
